Job Summary
The Service Content team develops best-in-class training for technicians who support customers worldwide. Were looking for an experienced technical editor to shape and refine self-paced coursework on hardware and software, safety and regulatory training, and more. Partnering with instructional designers, the editor will deliver exceptional messaging that makes it easy for technicians to succeed in their roles and achieve business objectives.
Duties:
- Under the guidance of the senior technical editor, youll edit courses for grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, style, tone, accuracy, and more, following guidance from multiple style guides.
- Youll share your editorial expertise to develop coursework thats consistent, logical, effective, and
- ready for localization.
- And youll review projects during all stages of production, from initial copy development to final staging and proofreading.
- Youll also develop materials to train writers and improve processes, documentation, checklists, and templates.
- And youll be a stickler for details while never losing sight of the big picture of what the content and the organization are trying to achieve.
- The candidate must be able to produce high-quality work, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively and diplomatically with teammates and other stakeholders. The best candidates are careful, curious, resourceful, creative, detail-oriented, and high energy, and can balance multiple responsibilities, priorities, and schedules.
Key Qualifications - Mastery of American English and outstanding attention to detail
- Expertise in copyediting, proofreading, and standard editorial workflows
- Experience with the Chicago Manual of Style
- Ability to simplify complex material into engaging copy that maintains the writers intention.
- A passion for creating a phenomenal user experience.
- Fluency with technology
- Experience building excellent, effective working relationships.
- Ability to provide tactful, positive feedback that improves the message.
- Ability to keep information confidential.
- Experience editing for translation a plus.
- Familiarity with learning management systems or content management systems a plus
- Proficiency with basic HTML a plus
Education - Bachelors degree in English, journalism, or related field
- 6 or more years of copyediting experience or an advanced degree with 3 or more years of experience
- Previous technical editing experience or experience editing instructional content
