The Packaging Manager oversees the packaging of products and is responsible for compliance and consistency as well as managing Packaging Supervisor(s), Packaging Tech(s) and Packaging Associate(s) as applicable.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for day-to-day operations and performance of the packaging function including any automated packaging machinery
- Responsible for overseeing the performance of the Packaging team
- Ensuring Team Members are training and successful in their role
- Maintains inventory levels and production standards, ensures adherence to compliance standards and ensures final product output is correct by weight, label and finished product packaging.
- Collaborates with sales department to ensure orders are properly fulfilled
- Oversees inventory, updates inventory levels as needed to reflect sell-through
- Recognizes areas of opportunity that improve Safety, Product Quality, Food Safety, Cost, Productivity, and Team Member Morale
- Works with leadership team to ensure all KPIs are being met or exceeded
- Coach the packaging team to establish performance measures to achieve designated objectives and deliver business results
- Responsible for managing team member records
- Creation and review of compliance labels
- Attends regularly scheduled management meetings to provide status updates and reports
- Collaboration with quality control to ensure labels are going on correctly and packaging remains compliant with regulations for the industry
SECONDARY JOB DUTIES

- Flexibility and the ability to shift work schedule according to production needs.
- Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED); and Department of Public Health and Environment (DPHE),

QUALIFICATIONS

- Regulations require that incumbent be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain state marijuana work credentials
Education/Experience:
- Associate or 4-year degree preferred, with relevant college courses in biology, chemistry, or physics
- Prior Laboratory or operational experience required
- Previous marijuana industry experience preferred, with priority given to candidates with experience in licensed facilities
- Experience managing and leading a team
Technological Skills:
- Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications and email.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with basic scientific principles and laboratory terminology
- Basic math skills
- Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals
- Understanding and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the cannabis industry, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all Team Members
- Highly detail oriented and organized
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

- Warehouse environment with artificial lighting and ventilation
- Potential for mold exposure.
- Potential for allergic reaction to or hypersensitivity to the marijuana plants
- Carbon dioxide (CO2) may be encountered. CO2 can displace oxygen at high concentrations. CO2 exposure can cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, rapid breathing, and increased heart rate; in extreme cases, unconsciousness and death can result.
- The warehouse is properly ventilated, however, marijuana cultivation produces ozone from the chemical reaction of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds, such as terpenes that are given off from the marijuana plant. Terpenes and nitric oxides can be associated with eye, skin and mucous irritation. In some people, ozone can cause decreased lung function and/or exacerbate pre-existing health effects, especially in workers with asthma or other respiratory complications. PPE in the form of respiratory protection may be recommended in certain parts of the warehouse.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: VERY LABOR INTENSIVE. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 75 pounds (125 pounds with assistance), may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching. Moderate to loud exposure to noise level.
