Job Description:
- As Construction Manager, you would support our test equipment and systems integration projects in the North American market, be responsible for supporting and managing all project site details from field checks & site preparation through system installation.
- You would act as the single interface point on site with the customer, the Client project manager and lead all field resources through construction, installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing phases of the project.
- You would be responsible for site safety, daily work planning, and contractor coordination.
Job Responsibilities:- Capacity to read and understand P&ID drawings, schematics, machine, system and building layouts, and details for manufacturing.
- Support engineering activities for sizing of mechanical systems including pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, control valves, HVAC systems, etc.
- Conduct field studies, feasibilities, and support installation aspects of value engineering exercises
- Work with project critical paths and management of the complete project support infrastructure to deliver on time and to the specification.
- Support Advanced Quality Planning exercises, documented Lessons Learned, and risk management techniques to provide closed loop continuous improvement of projects.
- Identify customer cost saving and technical enhancement opportunities at timely intervals within the project to offer optimal system performance and efficiency with minimal project timing impact.
- Control project quality across all layers of project deliverables by a) exploiting engineering solutions known to be robust and conventional, and b) identifying and micro-managing of high-risk project content through various techniques.
- Supervise construction and installation activities to the specification with an eye toward early identification of problems.
- Initiate and maintain a comprehensive project open issues tracking document from contract award through warranty closure.
- Actively manage contractor time sheets and activities on site enforcing a no verbal orders mentality
Required Qualifications:- BSME/BSEE (BBA/MBA considered if the candidate has a strong technical or engineering background) Or equivalent field experience totaling not less than 7 years in a construction supervision role
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with Engine/Power train Test Systems/cells, Facilities equipment or equivalent.
- Experience with MS Excel, MS Project, MS Outlook and MSWord is essential
- Experience with ISO9000 and quality operating systems
- Working knowledge of DFMEA's, Risk assessments, and Lessons Learned exercises
- Familiarity with IBC/ICC, NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA, Hazardous locations, and related building codes
- Familiarity with IBC/ICC, NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA, Hazardous locations, and related building codes as they pertain to construction, facilities test cells and fuel storage and distribution.
- Familiarity with CSA, C-U/L, TSSA, Ontario Hydro and applicable Ontario and Canadian building codes as they pertain to construction, facilities test cells and fuel storage and distribution.
- Excellent communication skills required
- Willingness to travel As Client Test Systems projects are located throughout multiple venues in North America, and installation oversight and warranty are within the scope of project responsibilities, and we anticipate extensive travel requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:- Controls engineering and systems integration a plus.
- Experience with CAD software tools such as ACAD, Inventor, E-Plan, and or alternate 2D and or 3D tools is a plus
- US or Canadian citizenship preferred
