Vice President – Rapid Application Developer (RAD)
Location: New York, NY
Business Overview:The role is within the RAD (Rapid Application Development) team that will cover both Global Credit and Macro business lines. The team is responsible for the development and front-line support of risk and P&L tools for fixed income trading desks within Americas with a focus on tactical rapid delivery. This includes but is not limited to Options, Exotics, FX, Inflation, Emerging Markets, Swaps, Bonds, Repos to Credit Single Name (CDS), Credit Index, Corporate Bonds, HY and Distressed products across New York and LATAM regions. This is a highly visible front-office facing role, where you will work with Trading, Quant Research and other teams from the middle office, back office and operations on various initiatives. Responsibilities: As part of the role, you will cover the following responsibilities:1. IT Governance- Be aware of local/global IT governance processes and apply when needed.
- Follow the usage of standard project management tools Jira, Service Now, document templates etc..
- Proactively report risks & issues to stakeholders and management, especially those posing financial or reputation risk.
2. Project Delivery- Ensure the delivery of high quality value added RAD solutions to the NY Trading Business
- Ensure proper requirements gathering and client expectations for all RAD development projects.
3. Development- Ensure the stability and high quality of the global platform by adhering to software development best practices in accordance to direction from management IT and/or business.
- Own a delivery from beginning to end, ensuring that the integrity of the existing functionality is maintained, whilst new features can be added seamlessly.
- Document new functionalities in clear and concise way, training users/Client as appropriate.
- Promoting knowledge sharing within local and global development teams.
4. Reporting- Provide regular and timely management reporting on status and progress of work using the tools and direction provided.
- Proactively escalate project risks progress delays, scope creep, etc.
5. Other- Ensure a high level of communication between Global Market IT teams both locally and globally.
- Build and maintain relationships with trading, business management, operations, and compliance and risk teams.
- Be knowledgeable of IT systems and platforms relevant to the business line you support.
Contributions:- Provide software solutions as prioritized by the NY Trading Business for the traders, TAs, operations trade support, MO and PnL and Client teams.
- Manage adhoc requests and incidents through to completion Undertake investigations, ensure high levels of communication and provide tactical as well as strategic solutions all in a timely and controlled manner whilst reducing operational risk.
- Proactively collaborate for the support of the Global Trading Businesses with local and global teams to ensure proper development, support and maintenance of RAD systems with an aim to preempt production incidents.
- Contribute to the stability and performance of applicable IT systems by always considering impact of changes pre and post release.
- Collaborate with Client teams to ensure proper documentation for usage and support of all existing and new developments.
- Ensure appropriate segregation of development and production to reduce operational risks
Minimum Required QualificationsSkills- At least 3 years of full-time work experience.
- Previous experience of front-office risk and P&L development and support.
- Very good understanding of Fixed Income products (highlighted in business overview)
- Excellent knowledge of Python (with scientific packages)
- Excellent knowledge of Excel & VBA.
- Excellent knowledge of C#/.NET
- Good knowledge of MS-SQL
- Good knowledge of CI/CD setups (including Bitbucket, Jenkins, SONAR, Ansible, Artifactory etc)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of full-time work experience within risk and P&L development.
- Candidates with proven experience should also have had good exposure to Derivatives, ideally in a front-office facing role, and an in-depth understanding of the business.
