2023 INTERN X PROGRAM
Position Description:
The Reconstruction Era National Historic Network consists of public and privately managed sites throughout the nation that have a verifiable connection to the Reconstruction era. The network is managed by Reconstruction Era National Historical Park, and many of the first sites to join the network were HBCUs in South Carolina. The Network HBCU Liaison will work with the Chief of Interpretation and Park Historian to (1) Develop public facing programming or exhibits interpreting their HBCU in the context of Reconstruction (2) Develop training materials for existing network sites to interpret HBCUs, (3) Outreach to HBCUs interested in joining the Reconstruction Era National Historical Network, (4) Review site applications for the network.
Qualifications:
Include the qualifications needed to complete the internship, such as level of education, major, coursework, degrees, certifications, skills, and strengths. * 11.A history major is strongly preferred, or at least somebody with a passion for their campus' history, and comfortable with public-facing communication.

Learning Goals:
The intern will learn some of the skills of the public historian - taking history from the archives and literature to the communities who find relevance in that. Depending on the intern's existing skill set, this could provide opportunities for improving public speaking, multi-media presentations, or website work.
