About Us:
We deliver the most advanced and flexible learning experience for certification, credentialing, test prep, continuing education, and training. Our cloud-based learning platform helps training organizations, associations and the extended enterprise deliver a highly engaging and effective learning experience for individuals looking to advance their careers. We incorporate the latest in learner-centered technology, including personalization, gamification, data science, usability and omni-channel delivery.

We’re sitting in a pivotal time in the BenchPrep history. The number of learners on our cloud-based learning platform has reached nearly 11 million as of 2024.

We’re committed to helping people learn better, and that starts with our own people.

This position is remote (along with all of our BenchPrep positions).

About the role:

As the Director of Business Development, you’ll have the primary responsibility of identifying, managing, and closing growth opportunities with BenchPrep’s existing customer base.  While you’ll be working on existing customers, this role is a sales-oriented role, not an account management role, and you’ll be reporting into the VP of Sales at BenchPrep and joining an exciting product-driven organization, providing exposure to marquee partners in the Association and Credentialing industry that have long-standing relationships with BenchPrep, care deeply about their programs, and rely on BenchPrep for product ideas and strategy.

The key components of the work you’ll be doing in this role are:

  • Assess and substantiate upsell potential within our customer portfolio, focusing on revenue growth in 2024 and beyond.
  • Build strong rapport with customers via deep engagement with the Customer Success team who works with them on a daily basis
  • Identify expansion challenges and opportunities for our customers and advocate for change to remove blockers for growth
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies, in partnership with our Customer Marketing team, focused on high-value products with strong probabilities of conversion leveraging market insights, product knowledge, internal team consultation, customer POVs, and industry trends.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with delivery teams (Professional Services, Product, and Technology) to communicate growth opportunities and value propositions effectively, onboard and energize support for new initiatives, and spearhead conversations.
  • Utilize strategic and consultative selling techniques to position BenchPrep as a trusted advisor in the learning platform space, adapting selling approaches to diverse decision-making structures.
  • Strategic/Consultative Selling: Our prospects and customers look at us as advisors on their learning platforms.  You’ll be expected to navigate an org chart like none other and find the various decision makers and change your selling approach accordingly.

**Skills and experiences we value:

  • 10-15 years of Sales experience in a SaaS and EdTech.
  • Candidates with experience within the Associations or Credentialing space, or those who have sold into those sectors will be greatly prioritized.
  • Experience working with Enterprise level sales ($100K and above) in matrixed organizations where decision making is distributed and proven experience managing and closing complex sales-cycles and selling into Associations or similar organization types where Board approval is part of the buying process.
  • Self-driven with a proactive mindset to navigate ambiguity and drive results independently.
  • Team-oriented with strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-centric approach with a positive attitude and a knack for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

**Note: We know that excellent candidates can have all sorts of backgrounds and experiences, so please don’t hesitate to apply even if you don’t meet 100% of the listed requirements.  And check out our blog post to learn more about inclusion at BenchPrep in the Engineering team."
