In this position, you will play a vital role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable web applications that ensure our solutions are as life-saving as the medical devices they support. This is an opportunity to combine your technical expertise with a profound impact on human lives.</p><p>You’ll work across the stack using technologies like <strong>Java, Angular, Spring Boot, Spring Reactive</strong>, and modern databases. Collaboration and continuous improvement will be central to your role, as will an unwavering commitment to quality at every step of the <strong>Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)</strong>.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong>: </p><ul><li>Design, develop, test, deploy, release, and support regulated SaaS-based solutions, ensuring quality is embedded in every stage of the SDLC.</li><li>Innovate to meet customer needs by designing and delivering solutions that eliminate waste and create measurable value.</li><li>Champion automation, driving the adoption of Continuous Integration, Continuous Development, and Deployment pipelines for efficient and repeatable processes.</li><li>Develop and execute unit tests to validate code quality and reliability. Leverage automated testing tools like <strong>Selenium</strong> and <strong>Cucumber</strong> to ensure comprehensive coverage and streamline testing workflows.</li><li>Embrace change, foster relentless improvement, and experiment with small, actionable enhancements.</li><li>Coach and mentor junior engineers, sharing best practices, promoting a systems-thinking mindset, and ensuring adherence to high coding and documentation standards.</li><li>Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to align technology with business needs and long-term objectives.</li><li>Evaluate system updates and releases for business impacts, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and alignment with customer needs.</li><li>Deeply understand business processes and user needs to design solutions that enhance value and improve experiences.</li></ul><ul></ul><ul></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong><br><strong><br></strong><strong>Experience:</strong><br></p><ul><li>5+ years of experience in SaaS-based product development or regulated industries (e.g., FDA-regulated medical devices).</li><li>Expertise in <strong>Java, JavaScript, SQL</strong>, and proficiency in tools/frameworks like <strong>Angular, Spring Boot, Postgres, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and GitLab</strong>.</li><li>Knowledge of <strong>Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, and Reactive Programming</strong>.<br></li> <li>Experience with <strong>unit testing</strong> and proficiency in automated testing tools such as <strong>Selenium</strong> and <strong>Cucumber</strong>.<br></li><li>Experience with release management and ALM tools like <strong>Jira</strong> and <strong>Git/GitLab</strong>.</li></ul><ul></ul><ul></ul><p><strong>Soft skills:</strong></p><ul><li>Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities. </li><li>Strong formal communication skills, especially in documentation for regulated environments.<br></li><li>Demonstrated ability to work on agile teams in a remote or hybrid environment.</li><li>Commitment to staying informed about industry trends, technologies, and best practices. </li><li>Willingness to be you, show you care, and solve problems.<strong><em><br></em></strong></li></ul><p><strong><em>Bonus skills: </em></strong><br></p><ul><li>Biomedical, healthcare or other regulated industries preferred.</li><li>Familiarity with <strong>Behavior-Driven Development (BDD)</strong> and <strong>Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)</strong> is a plus.</li></ul><hr><p><strong>Why Upstart13?</strong></p><ul> <li>We put people <strong>first</strong> at Upstart 13!
