The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Active Directory (AD). Distributed File System (DFS), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and a comprehensive understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust IT infrastructure and ensuring data integrity through effective backup management.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong><br></p><p><strong>Microsoft Infrastructure Management:</strong> </p><ul><li>Administer and maintain Active Directory, including user and group management, GPO configuration, domain controllers, and replication troubleshooting.</li><li>Design, implement, and manage Distributed File System (DFS) for high availability and scalability.</li><li>Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and optimizations of AD and DFS.</li><li>Implement and enforce security policies for Active Directory and related Microsoft environments.</li></ul><p><strong>AWS and Cloud Operations: </strong></p><ul><li>Manage and maintain AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, S3 storage, VPCs, and IAM policies.</li><li>Collaborate on cloud-based projects, ensuring seamless integration with on-premises systems.</li><li>Implement cloud security best practices to protect data and infrastructure.</li><li>Optimize infra for cost.</li></ul><p><strong>Backups and Disaster Recovery: </strong></p><ul><li>Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive backup solutions for on-premises and cloud environments.</li><li>Regularly test and document disaster recovery plans to ensure data availability and business continuity.</li><li>Monitor backup operations, troubleshoot issues, and optimize backup performance.</li><li>Ensure adherence to industry best practices and compliance requirements for data protection.</li></ul><p><strong>Network and Infrastructure: </strong></p><ul><li>Design, deploy, and maintain LAN/WAN, VPNs, and firewall configurations.</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues and outages.</li><li>Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.</li><li>Collaborate with vendors to support and maintain network infrastructure hardware and software.</li></ul><p><strong>Server and Systems Administration:</strong></p><ul><li>Manage Windows Server environments, including virtualization (e.g., Hyper-V or VMware).</li><li>Oversee patch management for servers and network devices.</li><li>Provide Tier 3 support for escalated infrastructure and network issues.</li></ul><p><strong>Documentation and Compliance: </strong></p><ul><li>Create and maintain detailed documentation for infrastructure, backup processes, network topology, and configurations.</li><li>Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.</li><li>Conduct regular audits of systems, networks, and backups for security and performance optimization.</li></ul><ul></ul><ul></ul><ul> </ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><p><strong></strong><strong>Technical skills:</strong> </p><ul><li>5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, network engineering, and backup management roles.</li><li>Proven expertise with Active Directory, DFS, and multi-domain environments.</li><li>Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud operations.</li><li>Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).</li><li>Proficiency with backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, AWS Backup, etc.).</li><li>Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and task optimization.</li><li>Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for on-premises and cloud environments</li><li>Houston, Texas-based.</li></ul><ul></ul><ul> </ul><p><strong><strong>Soft skills:</strong></strong> <br></p><ul><li>Analytical and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when required.</li><p>• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.</p></ul><ul></ul><ul></ul><ul></ul><ul></ul><ul> </ul><ul></ul><hr><p><strong>Why Upstart13?</strong></p><ul> <li>We put people <strong>first</strong> at Upstart 13!
