About VEIR
Giving everyone in the world access to clean, reliable, affordable energy will require substantial expansion of global electricity transmission networks. VEIR is developing a new generation of High Temperature Superconductor (HTS)-based transmission lines, enabling long distance, reliable, low loss, cost–effective power transfer in far smaller right–of–ways. VEIR’s innovations overcome the main barriers to transmission expansion, enabling the world to access the very lowest cost renewable power.

The Role
VEIR is seeking a Project Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects from business development inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The ideal candidate will be comfortable flexing, as needed, across pursuit and estimation, working with the Product Development team in the field on case studies. This person will exhibit a passion for improvement, sharing ideas and leading continuous improvement initiatives to allow VEIR to scale the Commercial Operations organization.

The ideal candidate will hold an Engineering or Construction Management degree and have at least 5 years of relevant experience in project management with a strong background in engineering, project management, and construction. Experience within the energy industry, either within a utility or an EPC provider, focused on power projects is preferred.

This person will report to the Director of Commercial Operations and Global Projects. The person in this role can be based in our office in Woburn, MA, full-time or remote in Kansas City, MO, traveling to the Woburn office periodically. • Begin drafting detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, resources, and risk management strategies for assigned projects
  • Establish communication channels and collaboration frameworks between the project teams, contractors, and key stakeholders

In the first six months you will...

  • Oversee and manage the execution of one or more projects, ensuring they are progressing according to plan, on schedule, and within budget, addressing and resolving any project challenges as they arise
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure all work complies with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
  • Monitor project budgets, control costs, and ensure that projects are completed within financial constraints

By the end of your first year you will...

  • Successfully lead at least one major project to completion, ensuring it meets all time, budget, and quality goals
  • Prepare post-project evaluations and lessons learned for continuous improvement in future projects
  • Take ownership of continuous improvement initiatives within the project management framework to help VEIR scale effectively
  • Actively contribute to scaling VEIR’s Commercial Operations organization by refining project management processes, introducing improvements, and driving operational efficiencies
