<p>OCU Group are looking for a SHE Advisor to join our team in West London. The purpose of this role is to provide Health, Safety &amp; Environmental information, advice and training to all levels and departments within the OCU Business.</p><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>To advise and assist in the planning and promotion of health, safety and environmental program and establishing a suitable mechanism in which to implement. </li><li>Liaise with the Health, Safety &amp; Environmental Manager and/or Head of SHE Major Projects.<strong></strong></li></ul><ul><li>Joining the OCU Services SHE Team for your area of responsibility, ensuring acceptable performance standards. </li><li>To interpret and advise on the implementation of company’s policies, procedures and safe systems of work </li><li>Ensure that the requirements under the company’s integrated management system are followed accordingly and to ensure that the contracts for which you are responsible are compliant.</li><li>Discharge specific duties for matters regarding health, safety, welfare and environment as defined in the company policy and in any procedures, efficiently and effectively. </li><li>Monitor the health, safety and environment performance on the contracts under your control and take such steps as are necessary to improve the performance. </li><li>Carryout out regular site, depot and CDM audits. This may require working out of hours from time to time, including occasional weekend/and or night work. </li><li>Monitor sites for compliance to ensure the relevant, required documentation is in place. </li><li>Ensure site notice boards are current and are erected in the appropriate place.</li><li>Attend clients contract meetings as and when required, prepare and deliver presentations accordingly. </li><li>Undertake sub-contractor on-boarding evaluations.</li><li>Preparation of pre-qualification questionnaire’s (PQQs) and tender documentation. </li><li>Compile and submit monthly KPIs within the required timescales. </li><li>Investigate the root causes of accidents, incident and near miss occurrences and the circumstances leading up to the occurrence. Propose and implement preventative measures, compile required report(s) and forwarding them to Senior SHEQ Management in a timely manner. </li><li>Ensure all levels of staff under your influence receive adequate and appropriate training in health, safety, quality, and environmental matters and assist line managers to identify training gaps.</li><li>Facilitate employee rep meetings and record minutes of the meeting. </li><li>Praise positive performance, manage instances of non- conformance, escalate where required.</li><li>Set a good personal example at all times.</li><li>Ensure so far as you are able, that effective arrangements exist to protect the health and safety of the work force and ensure that all relevant operational &amp; emergency procedures, codes of practice, instructions &amp; legislation are implemented and observed. </li><li>Shall be accountable to the SHE Manager in respect of health, safety and environmental matters. </li><li>Responsible for exercising a general duty of care for the health, safety, environmental and welfare of employees under your control instituting effective arrangements for the efficient implementation of company health and safety strategies, operational procedures and safe systems of work. </li><li>Advise on the creation and implementation of Safe Systems of Work, Safety Plans (CPP`s/EMP`s etc) and the provision and use of appropriate protective equipment.</li><li>Ensure that management are supplied with the necessary safety information to maintain safe working practices to modern day legal standards and industry best practice.</li><li>Promote and actively engage the work force in reinforcing our “Mindset” behavioural programme</li><li>Notify any changes in your duties to all others who may be affected by these changes.</li><li>Shall ensure strict adherence to the reporting and recording procedures for accidents and dangerous occurrences as required under RIDDOR, as directed by the </li><li>SHE Manager.Shall be responsible for providing specialist advice on the company's safety policy and procedures and compliance with statutory obligations throughout the company</li><li>Shall monitor arrangements to ensure that health and safety standards applied by contractors are satisfactory and in accordance with contractual arrangements, company specifications, policy and procedures</li><li>Shall ensure that site employees work in accordance with the company’s health and safety requirements, policy’s and procedures along with those of its Clients.</li><li>Shall recommend disciplinary procedures where any member of site supervisory staff fails to discharge their safety responsibilities satisfactorily.</li><li>Shall take appropriate action when notified of disregard of safety on site.</li><li>Shall ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment for persons working in or visiting any company operation, site and/or premises.</li><li>Shall monitor provision and effectiveness of adequate and existing welfare facilities.</li><li>Promote the reporting of near misses throughout the company.</li><li>You are required to work at any site on which the Company operates, as authorised and as determined by the needs of the business.
