Primary Responsibilities:

Design, develop and implement cost-effective solution for power distribution systems and power boxes
Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
Assist in providing feedback on others work including presentations, drawings and models, and communicating ideas and results to other engineers and management
Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives
Collaborate with cross functional team to ensure hardware designs meet overall product objectives
Study and recommend corrective solutions for Problem Reports of varying complexities.
Provide immediate response and timely resolution to design related production issues encountered during the build process

Mandatory Skills required to perform the job:

Proficiency in designing medium complex sheet metal and machining components, structure and release of manufacturing drawings
Proficiency in DFMEA, Thermal hand calculations and structural simulations (Conduction, Convection, Heat dissipation and increase in temperature) to facilitate selection of heat sinks, Cooling systems like Fans, etc.
Excellent exposure on mechanical OEM components selection based on first principles
Demonstrated understanding and implementation of relevant design & compliance standards (e.g. NEC, NFPA, UL, IEC standard, etc)
Experience in implementing problem solving & decision-making methods like DFSS, DFMEA, 8D, DFX
Experience in leading the project from requirements to release for manufacturing.

Desirable Skills:

Proficiency in design of Power box / control panels /electromechanical boxes
Basic knowledge on analysis software like Nx-Nastran to validate the design
Knowledge in Engineering Change Management Process
Exposure to Value Engineering would be an advantage
Exposure to knowledge on electrical schematics and high voltage electrical components
Awareness on EMC & EMI requirements
Knowledge of DFX
