Toyota Connected’s Labs team is seeking a Senior Product Owner. On the Labs team, you will be a key contributor to next-generation platforms and technology systems focused on customer experience and safety. Our Labs teams is using statistical and machine learning techniques to create scalable solutions for vehicle telemetry data and video analysis and perform R&D to drive discovery of new generation products for connected vehicles. Responsibilities:
- Build, prune, and prioritize the product backlog for scrum team(s) based on customer needs and technical feasibility in collaboration with engineering lead, adapting to changing priorities and account for adjustments to maximize customer value.
- Collaborate with development teams to break down items into executable stories that articulate business and customer value.
- Ensure the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and provide direction on order of the Scrum team’s work.
- Research and design product metrics to provide accurate and meaningful performance insights to the product team.
- Track progress, identify areas for improvement, and adjust strategy based on data and metrics.
- Monitor product performance metrics, such as revenue, customer satisfaction, and market share to stakeholders.
- Stay informed about the business strategy, market trends, competitors, and customer base through market research, feedback, and product performance analysis.
- Use primary research to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitor activities, and additionally begins to use secondary research (e.g., review industry trends and articles) to understand customer needs and inform product strategy specific to a product/feature.
- Contribute to the product vision and strategy for smaller features, considering input from customers, stakeholders, and the development team.
- Develop and manage the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with the product vision and strategy and communicates the product's evolution to stakeholders.
- Provide strategic guidance and insights to the product team based on research and analytics, enabling data-driven decisions.
- Define cost model estimates for development and operations specific to product/feature with engineering leader.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Product Management experience building and launching high-tech software products in an Agile software engineering environment.
- Demonstrates expertise in product management, market research, and customer insights, project management, strategic product planning, and product lifecycle management principles.
- Experience influencing the direction of a single product/program or multiple smaller products/programs by independently prioritizing and managing work with minimal supervision.
- Experience using primary research (e.g., customer feedback or data analysis) to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitor activities. Ability to use secondary research (e.g., review industry trends and articles) to additionally inform product strategy specific to a product/feature.
- Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of product landscape and makes pivotal data-driven decisions that impact daily operations.
- Holistically understands business requirements, customer needs, market dynamics, industry trends, and competition and uses this to provide strategic insights to the product team strategies that enable decision making and optimize business value and align with business goals.
- Experience communicating and collaborating with stakeholders effectively, tailoring messages to different audiences, fostering cross-functional relationships, and promoting a positive team culture.
- Exhibits self-leadership, along with coaching Product Analysts and/or Product Owners.
- Thrives on complex challenges, manages risks, and embraces innovation and experimentation.
- Solutions-oriented with an ability to keep an open mind while finding agreeable solutions.
- Displays care, empathy, and understanding towards team members including valuing diversity and differences amongst individuals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
