AI Research Intern (PhD) (3-6 months internship)

We are looking for an outstanding individual who wants to join an exciting early stage start-up in its growth phase as an AI Research Intern (PhD) to work closely with our senior management and a highly motivated team.

This internship is based in Berlin and may lead to full-time employment depending on the performance of the individual.

Tasks

As AI Research Intern (PhD), your responsibilities will be to support Vanilla Steel in their objectives of growing the business as well as building sustainable and profitable operations. You will be exposed to a different areas of the company and the role will evolve in parallel with the needs of Vanilla Steel:

• Analyze large datasets and apply statistical and machine learning techniques to identify potential trading opportunities
• Collaborate with the team to optimize existing trading strategies and develop new ones
• Develop algorithms to consume, standardize and process large amounts of inventory data from market participants
• Design and build tools to disseminate actionable data for live trading activities
• Internally communicate research progress and results

Requirements

• You are in the process of obtaining a PhD in AI, computer science, engineering or related field
• You have first experience in conceptualizing, implementing and thoroughly evaluating advanced AI-based systems
• You have excellent communication skills (in English) and the ability to report and present research findings clearly and efficiently within the organization
• You are passionate about keeping up to date with current research and enjoy extending papers on state-of-the-art Deep-Learning-based approaches
• Proficiency with Python, modern C++ and/or Rust programming languages
• Experience with machine learning software platforms such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, etc
• Strong sense of urgency, drive to take ownership, and a relentless need to learn
