NGO Event Manager

Circular Berlin is a non-profit accelerating Berlin transition towards a circular city, envisioning it as a resilient, citizen-oriented region. We develop knowledge on the circular economy and apply it through practical projects, community building and education. Everything we learn in Berlin is made openly available to implement in other corners of the world.

Circular Berlin is looking for an event manager with experience in the ideation and realization of different event formats for its community of individuals and its ecosystem of organizations, to join its team 2 days/week from January 2024.

In this role, you will be responsible for the creation of inspiring and engaging events (online and offline) to bring together our community whilst disseminating Circular Economy knowledge. You are the person orchestrating all the different activities and involved people for a smooth realization of the planned events.

40% position: For this role, it is expected to be engaged 16 hrs/week.

Tasks

Your Responsibilities in this role:

• General coordination & execution: Responsible for planning, organizing, and executing internal and external event formats.
• Event Planning: Planning of the upcoming formats for the year as well as defining concepts, objectives, timelines, and budgets.
• Event organization: Finding and booking locations and speakers as well as sponsors and partners.
• Event promotion & communication: Writing engaging invitation texts and cooperation with the communication team for the scheduling and promotion.
• Event execution and on-site management: Overseeing on-site logistics during events, coordination of speakers.
• Cooperating with the Project Managers supporting them with the events’ dissemination work of their specific projects.
• Monitoring the effectiveness of the events in reaching the organization's goals through periodic analysis of data and KPIs.
• Participate in regular meetings with the organizational board and project teams.

Requirements

Requirements for this position:

• At least 2 years of professional experience in organizing events.
• You are interested in creating inspiring formats for our community & ecosystem and use all your creativity to invent innovative formats.
• You are not afraid to communicate and to reach out to possible speakers, sponsors, event venues.
• Experience in setting up basic technical equipment for online events (zoom) as well as for offline events (e.g: setting up monitor, beamer, microphones, etc...).
• A good knowledge of the topic of Circular Economy and a strong network of organizations, individuals & companies active in this field in Berlin will be considered as strong assets for this position.
• Interest and experience in moderating events are a plus.
• Fluent written and spoken German and English.
