Together with Europe’s leading sustainability recognition, the German Sustainability Award, we have already over 1,000 companies active on the platform with more than 50.000 sustainable actions and solutions as well as 40 GT of company greenhouse gas emissions in scope 1, 2 and 3 as data available. THIS IS HOW YOU CREATE IMPACT

At score4more, you contribute with your brainpower and technology skills to:

  • develop the largest global impact platform in order to shape a sustainable transformation
  • create new features to make it easy for companies to navigate transformation data, identify suitable sustainable actions and solutions to transform faster
  • automate our scoring and data analytics to give companies an assessment about their sustainability performance

  • React, TypeScript on the frontend
  • Cypress & Jest
  • Python
  • Serverless architecture
  • AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Aurora (Postgresql), Cognito, S3
  • GPT3 (Initial models)

score4more is a close partner of the Hasso-Plattner-Institute Potsdam as one of the leading technology institutes to collaborate on AI/ML.

POSITION KEY FACT

  • Role: Senior Backend Engineer
  • Scope of the position: full time
  • Working location: remote, hybrid and/or from our Berlin office, main residency: germany (means you should have your main residency in germany, but you can work remotely)
  • Starting date: January 2024 - permanent contract
  • Compensation: we have a transparent team compensation and benefits system in which we classify you according to your professional experience - an adjustment/evaluation will take place after the 6-month probationary period
  • Vacation: 26 vacation days

Tasks

As our first internal Backend Engineer you have the possibility to shape the score4more platform and work towards deploying the first Features. You will be involved in overall processes of the company, such as strategies and shaping the product in order to boost sustainability and therefore transform the economy towards a regenerative system.Your tasks as our first Backend Developer will be:

  • Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems using best practices and modern technologies.
  • API Development: Create and maintain APIs that enable data flow between the front-end and backend systems, ensuring efficiency and security.
  • Database Management: Design and optimize database schemas, implement data storage solutions, and ensure data integrity and security.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code, and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality standards.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and address bottlenecks and performance issues in the backend systems to ensure a responsive and efficient user experience.
  • Security: Implement and maintain security best practices to protect against common web application vulnerabilities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Technical Research: Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure the continuous improvement of our backend systems.

Requirements

What you bring - "must have":

  • Master degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7 years + proven experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role.
  • Initial project leadership experiences, mentoring younger developers, managing projects, ambitions to coordinate tech roles
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, Python is a must have
  • Experience with database design and management (SQL, NoSQL).
  • Knowledge of RESTful API design and development.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • You work collaboratively with your colleagues and consider what is best for the team. Diversity and inclusion are important to you.
  • You have start-up experience, preferably early stage, and have already built structures and developed strategies from scratch.
  • The following language skills are a prerequisite: excellent English.

What you bring - "nice to have":

  • Experiences in AI and machine learning model development
  • Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • You are an impact-oriented person who wants to work with hand, heart and head for sustainable change.
  • Leadership: Serving leadership and self-organization and their frameworks are familiar to you and you are keen to embark on this journey with us.
