Salary Range: $120,000 to $150,000 Per year depending on experience.
Position Overview: We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Technical Support Specialist. While this role does not initially involve programming, there is potential for growth into programming responsibilities for candidates with a keen interest in that direction. The outgoing team member, whose position you'll be filling, had a significant programming background, mainly in C/C++, Java, and Javascript.
Responsibilities:
- Willingness to take on a support role and assist customers with technical inquiries.
- Learn and become proficient in using 3270-based applications, including CONDOR, FALCON, CYGNET, Key/101, ODE, ADDERS, and KeyPlus products.
- Master problem tracking with GNATS and understand Portal operations, including services and documentation access.
- Handle account maintenance and licensing of all products through the portal.
- Study documentation and use products to gain hands-on experience.
- Be on-call for emergency after-hours support (infrequent occurrences).
- Learn and support Workstation Products, including Key/101, Falcon64, and ODE-pc products.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in mainframe environments and the use of 3270 z/OS or z/VSE JCL and online environments (e.g., ISPF, ICCF, CONDOR, etc.).
- Programming experience in legacy languages such as COBOL, HLASM, REXX, as well as newer languages like C/C++, Java, Javascript, NodeJS, and Python.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems, GitHub, and related technologies.
- Ability to learn and support Workstation Products, including Key/101, Falcon64, and ODE-pc.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with 3270-based applications like CONDOR, FALCON, CYGNET, Key/101, ODE, ADDERS, and KeyPlus.
- Knowledge of Portal operations and experience with customer interaction.
- Familiarity with system operation and the ability to follow instructions to build annual releases.
- Basic code updating skills for tasks such as release number modifications
