PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

The Guest Services Ministry Associate is passionate about recruiting, equipping, developing and coaching leaders so that volunteer teams can be discipled and guests receive the highest degree of service. They empower their volunteer teams and leaders to succeed in Sunday and midweek ministry - ensuring the guest experience is compelling and engaging. They directly lead the Guest Services Ministry at the Village Church Surrey site and support our other Surrey and Langley locations by elevating the serving culture and inspiring ownership so that team members believe deeply and see the evidence that their roles contribute to the mission of Village Church. They understand that calling people to serve invites them to be a part of the work God is doing through the local church.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads and manages volunteer teams by recruiting, training, developing, and equipping Leads and team members.
  • Collaborates on yearly strategy and budget, setting the ministry calendar, and facilitating team involvement.
  • Understands and models the Volunteer Appreciation Strategy, ensuring volunteers feel valued, connected and supported. 
  • Ensures the overall guest experience meets Village standards of excellence and champions the Village Brand.
  • Equips, develops, and collaborates with Ministry Leads and serves as Interim Team Lead or Ministry Lead, as needed. 
  • Administrates Village Connect to ensure accurate and timely reporting and follow-up.
  • Oversees the Emergency Response Plan for the site and supports the enhancement of Emergency preparedness across all sites. 
  • Manages all relevant equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for the transportation and management of the Guest Services truck
  • Participates in Village-wide and regional events. 
  • Supports the Hub as directed by their supervisor, and thinks “big picture” about how the Surrey location can bring value to the other Village Church locations. 
  • Participates in training of leaders for new Village Church locations.
  • Leads and administers ministry-specific events and the You Make it Happen class following the approved Event Process.
  • Is a key collaborator for all lobby initiatives and owns the guest experience for major events.
  • Ensures all responsibilities are completed in a purposeful, strategic and focused manner that points people to Jesus.
  • Acts as a servant by inviting, discipling, training and equipping others to serve.  Leads through example and commits to thanking at least one volunteer on a weekly basis. 
  • Ensures all responsibilities are produced, promoted and led with a high level of innovation and excellence, honouring God at the highest level.  
  • Acts with a sense of ambitious urgency, ensuring all work is completed wisely and impactfully. Time is a gift from God.
  • Maintains an openness to being a learner by committing to continuous self, spiritual and professional development. 
  • Contributes to best team by participating in a joyful culture and working well with peers.
  • Demonstrates behaviour consistent with the Standard of Conduct as outlined in the Village Staff Manual.

  • Team members serve joyfully and authentically out of the Good News that we are redeemed and have our purpose in Jesus—everything we do points back to this.
  • Team members understand their role in seeing people become fully devoted followers of Jesus.  
  • The effectiveness of lives being transformed by the Gospel is increasing and being tracked through the number of people serving.

Community:

  • People are given the opportunity to use their gifts and talents in high-capacity volunteer roles - entering into the work that Christ is doing through the local church.
  • Volunteer teams are healthy in number, commitment, and leadership; they are equipped, engaged, and appreciated. 

Culture: 

  • Teams are representing the truths of Christianity to the world in insightful, creative, and gracious ways - going into the surrounding culture to bring Jesus to everyone.
  • Relationships are being pursued with unchurched people - connecting with them and inviting them to events and Sunday services.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Philosophically aligned with Village Church's Mission, Focus and strategy.
  • Fulfills character qualifications as highlighted in 1 Timothy and Titus. 
  • Fulfill the duties required of Village Church members as outlined in the ‘This is Village Church’ course.
  • Pursues a deeper relationship with Christ and greater spiritual growth through prayer, the gospel, and community. Is a disciple.
  • Has passion and skill for leading people. Proven ability to discern, identify, recruit, and develop leaders. 
  • Experience in serving the local church is an asset, but not limited to vocational ministry.
  • Dependable and servant-hearted; will do any job with joy and passion.
  • A class 5 driver's license is required.

WORKWEEK

  • 40 hrs/week 
  • Sundays and occasional evenings
