Molding Technician II

What’s the job?

Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor and the Shift Technical Lead, the Molding Technician II will perform color checks, color changes, quality tests, relieve for breaks, perform mold changes, set up and trouble shoot printers and packing stations, clean and set up grinders, perform intermediate processing troubleshooting on injection molding machines and other duties assigned to the individual as needed.  Molding Technician II is also responsible to conduct all technical training on the shift and assist the Utility Operator with new employee training.

Responsibilities:

EHS and 6S

·        Ensure safe work environment in plant

·        LOTO authorized

·        Demonstrate active preventive engagement in EHS through performing STOP Observations and safety/environmental reporting

·        Identify, eliminate, and / or communicate any unsafe conditions

·        Ensure workstations are setup ergonomically

·        Comply with all PPE requirements

·        Comply with all CertainTeed Siding and EHS Policies

·        Maintain and improve cleanliness of assigned working areas

Quality

·        Be able to understand and communicate what a good quality part is.

·        Perform hourly color checks

·        Abide by all ISO 9001 and 14001 procedures

·        Ensure that product packaging specification are followed

·        Perform basic visual quality checks

Production

·        Being able to detect burns, color streaks, short shots, gas marks and flash and communicate this to proper people

·        Reduction of regrind generation and increased reuse of regrind

·        Reduction of Scrap

·        Minimizing pounds per color change while not sacrificing quality

·        Read work orders and production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used

·        Print and distribute labels as needed

·        Assist in box erection as needed

·        Set up packing stations and printer as needed

·        Run molding machine as needed

·        CIL (clean, inspect, lube) accessory machines, collaborative robots, and panel machines.

·        Automation set-up and intermediate troubleshooting proficiency

·        Perform mold changes as primary or secondary mold setter on all molds

·        Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data and process changes.

·        Perform intermediate process troubleshooting on injection molding machines and material loading systems

·        Complete all necessary paperwork per procedures (ex: mold set up check sheet, shutdown check sheet, process logs and process sheets)

·        Conduct technical training as required

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

 

·       High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

·        2 to 5 years production experience

·        2+ year injection molding experience
