Head of IT

Role Overview:

The Head of IT will be responsible for shaping and executing the company’s IT strategy, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable technology solutions. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills. You will lead a talented IT team, manage key vendor relationships, and work closely with senior leadership to drive digital transformation and continuous improvement. You will take a hands-on leadership approach to inspire, motivate, and maximise the performance of a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the company’s IT strategy to support business objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the management of IT infrastructure, systems, and applications, ensuring high availability and security.
• Drive digital transformation initiatives, including cloud migration, cybersecurity enhancements, and process automation.
• Manage IT budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to understand technology needs and deliver tailored solutions.
• Monitor emerging technologies and recommend their adoption to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role
• Strong technical background in IT infrastructure, networking, cloud technologies (Azure/AWS), and cybersecurity.
• Demonstrated experience in leading digital transformation projects.
• Strong knowledge of IT governance, risk management, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO standards).
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
• Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong financial acumen, with experience managing IT budgets and vendor contracts.
• A strong collaborator with excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of the organisation.

Desirable Skills:

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CIO certification, ITIL, PMP, CISSP).
• Knowledge of data analytics and business intelligence tools.
• Experience in change management and driving organisational change.

The Company

Established in 2012, Bluetree Group is the UK’s largest online printer and exists to manufacture and sell high volume, premium products through investing in its highly skilled team as well as the latest technology.

In 2021, we acquired a luxury book printer, Kingsbury Press, branching out into the publishing industry and have aims of expanding into packaging solutions. In 2022 we were chosen as the printer for the Queen's Jubilee book.

Bluetree's combined office, production and training facilities are in Wath Upon Dearne, which is close to Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster. Our state-of-the-art 165,000 square foot facility is just a 15-minute drive from either the M1 or A1M and boasts ample free on-site parking, the facility is also located on a major bus route which is just a few minutes away from the train stations of Mexborough, Swinton and Wombwell.
