Benefits Specialist
Alliance Defending Freedom is looking for a highly customer service oriented Benefits Specialist to join us in either our Lansdowne, VA or Scottsdale. AZ Office. As the Benefits Specialist, you are a vital part of the HR Team. In this role, you will report to the Director of Compensation & Benefits and are responsible for the day-to-day compliant administration and coordination of the benefits, leaves of absence, and retirement programs and providing exceptional customer service to Team Members. You will also work closely with the Director of Compensation and Benefits on the design, planning, and execution of the global benefits strategy.
Your Essential Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
- Administer group benefits and ancillary programs (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, COBRA, wellness programs, 401(k) plan, etc.), including open enrollment, new hire enrollments, mid-year changes, and benefit terminations.
- Communicate to Team Members individually and in groups to provide education and guidance about group benefit options and other related programs to maximize use and participation.
- Upkeep current benefit information in SharePoint and ensure distribution of required notices.
- Process enrollments and terminations for all benefits in a timely and accurate manner, assisting Team Members as needed and ensuring proper documentation and record keeping.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the communication and administration of all benefits, leaves of absence, and successful completion of compliance reporting.
- Assist Team Members with claim issues and work with insurance brokers and carriers as needed.
- Maintains professional relationships with brokers and contracted carriers.
- Ensure payroll deduction accurately reflects the benefit enrollment.
- Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications, process and administer leave-of-absence requests and ADA accommodation requests.
- Collaborate with HRIS Administrator to ensure accuracy of benefits-related data and Team Member leave status. Regularly perform quality checks and reconciliation of benefits-related data.
- Monitor weekly file feed communications with benefit carriers and resolve issues in HRIS and with carrier representatives.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation claims with third-party administrators.
- Monitor the 401(k) third-party administrator website to complete administrative tasks and support the Director with the annual 401(k) audit process.
- Manage and administer all rewards programs (lengths of service, recognition awards, etc).
- Stay abreast of legislation changes to ensure plan compliance, including timely filing of Form 5500, 1095C, CMS disclosure form, and Form 720.
- Research trends and best practices in support of designing innovative, culture-affirming, and cost-effective benefits plans.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize benefit data and trends.
- Collaborate on global benefit projects and initiatives. Assist in designing and implementing global benefits plans to support the US and international growth.

Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of benefits administration experience
- 3+ years of leave administration experience
- Global benefits experience preferred
- Multi-state benefits and leave administration experience preferred
