is seeking to recruit candidates interested in pursuing a career with a global impact in aviation.

 

If you are technologically savvy, spatially aware with an acute ability for multi-tasking in a                  real-time fast-paced working environment, then you may have key skills required to be considered for a career in Air Traffic Control, commencing at the entry level of Flight Data Processor.

 

FLIGHT DATA PROCESSORS

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

The Flight Data Processor (FDP) is an entry level in a progressive career path towards becoming an Air Traffic Controller in Jamaica.

The FDP’s primary duty is to assist the Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) in fulfilling the primary objectives of air traffic services and act as a point of contact for flight information. He/she is required to coordinate pertinent information on air traffic to adjacent Flight Information Regions (FIRs) and Air Traffic Service Units (ATSU) in accordance with specified Letters of Agreements (LOAs). Prepare flight progress strips, update and manage flight plans (FPL) using the flight data display system (FDD).  Additionally, he/she is required to manage, correct and forward air traffic information using the ATS Message Handling System (AMHS) or any other appropriate communication channel.

 

Applicants in this category must satisfy the following minimum requirements to be selected for training:

 

  • Be between the ages of 21 years and 24 years old;

 

  • Completed a Bachelor of Science Degree;

 

  • Three (3) CSEC passes at Grades I or II to include :
  •  Mathematics
  •  English Language; and
  •  One (1) Science subject including Geography, Physics, Chemistry or Information Technology.     

 

  • Have no defects of speech, hearing or sight

  • Ability to prioritize, assess and make critical and precise decisions in real-time fast-paced work situations and to remain calm under stressful conditions
  • Good organizing skills
  • Good team player with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

 

WORKING HOURS:

 

  • Eight (8) hour rotating shifts, Mondays to Fridays, weekends and public holidays as per schedule.

 

SELECTION AND TRAINING CRITERIA

 

Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a series of technical diagnostic testing and successfully complete a thorough pre-employment screening process to include an Aviation Medical Examination.

Selected candidates will be offered temporary employment for one (1) year as Trainee Flight Data Processor to pursue full-time classroom training:

 

  • Classroom Theory and Simulation for 10 weeks

Civil Aviation Authority Training Institute

 

  • On-the-Job Training for 4 – 6 months (approximately)

Kingston Air Traffic Control Centre  

 

On successful completion of training the selected candidates will be employed on contract for two (2) years and assigned to the Kingston Air Traffic Control Centre at the JCAA’s Head Office.
