As the Vice President, Human Resources, you are responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies in support of The Mutual Group’s strategic business objectives. This role is a critical leadership role in ensuring TMG has the talent, resources, and organizational structure to meet our “why” of ensuring a successful future for our member companies. As the Vice President, Human Resources, you are responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant HR policies, procedures, and best practices. You will also serve as a champion for the organization in creating and maintaining a high performing and engaging great place to work.
Accountabilities:
- Partners with TMG leaders to create and drive human resource strategies in support of the organization’s short and long-term goals. Responsible for prioritizing and sequencing the development and deployment of those strategies in order to achieve maximum leverage and impact.
- Functions as strategic business advisor to senior/executive leaders, within The Mutual Group and member organizations, including coaching for effectiveness.
- Responsible for overall organizational design work ensuring strategy, structure, process, culture & rewards, and people are effectively defined and aligned.
- Ensures effective strategic talent programming, including but not limited to review, development, succession planning, etc. for the organization.
- Leads and oversees change enablement strategies, ensuring smooth departmental and organizational transformation and integrations. Serves as cultural advocate during organizational change.
- Visibly supports and advocates for company strategies and removes organizational barriers to achieve goals.
- Provides employee relations management creating a positive organizational culture and minimizing risk. Partners with legal as appropriate to investigate and resolve employee complaints, issues, and concerns.
- Develops and executives comprehensive recruiting, retention, and development plans to meet the human capital needs of the organization’s strategic goals.
- Implements and executes performance management programs and procedures, including but not limited to goal setting, appraisals, and performance improvement measures.
- Provides leadership for multiple Human Resources functions; attracting, engaging, retaining, and developing HR professionals; providing guidance and removing roadblocks; creating a high performing and engaged department/function.
- Identifies key performance indicators for the organization’s human resources functions; assesses organizations success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
- Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, HR, and talent management.
- Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Conducts the most advanced types of HR discipline work requiring complex judgment and advanced analytic thought in order to develop and implement innovative and effective human resource strategies.
- Participates in the budgeting process and ensures adherence to agreed upon costs, including headcount management.
- Ability to occasionally travel with periods of more frequency.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively complex roles in human resources or related roles, with strategic partnership, talent management, and/or business development experience preferred.
- Minimum 7 years leadership experience.
- Experience leading through influence, with a strong record of partnering with executive leaders to impact business strategy and drive organizational success.
- Strong business acumen, with ability to understand organizational finances, operations, and strategic drivers and align HR strategies and initiatives accordingly.
- Past performance of leading successful HR transformation or integration initiatives, including process improvement and organizational change enablement.
- Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations.
- Strong ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization through strong communication skills.
- Strong discretion in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to make decisions incorporating diverse perspectives.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of and experience with a variety of human resource information systems.
Compensation:
- $220,000 - $260,000 total compensation, commensurate with experience
