Redshift is a must. The AWS is for this role is more focused on the platform side. Must have solid experience and know platform security – how to do provisioning of accounts, authentication, python, stuff for automation. This is a "teaching” position – it is a group of DBA's that need to get up to speed. It's a Data Analytics group – viewership, consumer marketing, etc. Currently using Netezza, but it doesn't scale so they're moving to AWS.

Overall Summary:
Our client is responsible for the build and support of vital technology solutions supporting the scheduling, acquisition, processing, and distribution of content and Corporate System applications. The team is a fundamental part of innovation and successful Technology teams. They are looking for an experienced AWS engineer to help form a cloud platform engineer team to support the Data & Analytics Platform. This individual will work with the director to lead the team of DBAs to deliver platform automation and security best practices. This person must possess excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively train other team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage Ansible templates
Configure and install tools with a highly available architecture
Design IAM groups and security policies
Review and fix security vulnerabilities at network/subnet/security groups level
Create security standardized templates
Create password management strategy and implementation
Install custom software and automate installation process
Optimize Redshift database for performance
Design a golden image strategy to handle continuous security updates
Create a patching strategy
Review resource configuration for maximum usage
Train team members on these responsibilities
Work closely with team members in a collaborative environment

Requirements:

5+ years of established track record in architecting and engineering a data lake environment for data analytics
AWS certification is preferred
Expert knowledge in AWS resources including but not limited to VPC, subnets, network access control lists, security groups, EC2 instances, S3 buckets, IAM, Route 53, EMR
Extensive knowledge in managing S3 data layers and databases including Redshift and Postgres
Hands-on experience with Ansible and Python
Hands-on experience with expert level knowledge of Linux/Unix, PowerShell
Background in network security architecture and database tuning
Strong communication skills and teaching skill when working with a team who are relatively new to AWS. Willing to train the team.
Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent technical experience
