The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Compliance Specialist to help build and contribute to compliance efforts at Highnote. This position will report directly to the Head of Compliance. Ideal candidates will have worked at a bank with a credit program or have experience at a fintech. Candidates must be comfortable working in fluid environments and have a keen understanding of bank and payments regulations impacting consumers.
What you’ll be doing:
- Interface with Highnote customers
- Partner with Implementation Team to onboard new Highnote customers
- Responsible for Compliance timelines throughout the onboarding process
- Required to track materials in a third party tracker available to both the Implementation Team and customer while record keeping all files
- Submit required Compliance related forms to bank partner in a complete and timely manner
- Own Non-Credit Policy Review
- Expertise in iterating or writing non-credit policies - preference for candidates who have experience writing policies
- Must be able to help guide customers through non-credit policies
- Provide feedback and guidance on necessary requirements of the policy while addressing customer policy questions
- Examples of Non-Credit Policies (not inclusive of all policies): Record Retention, BCP, and BSA/AML
- Manage Complaint Reporting
- Receive monthly complaints from customers
- Review to ensure complaints were addressed by Highnote customer to end customer in a timely manner and identify trends
- Meet monthly with customer to review complaints/trends and create an action plan, if applicable
- Report complaints to bank partners on a monthly basis
- Record keep all relevant files
- Marketing Review
- Compliance review of marketing material
- Provide feedback to customer
- Submit to bank partner bank for review
- Ability to work with bank partner on any feedback and partner with customer to incorporate partner bank feedback
- Maintain records on final document
- Review third party tool identifies if any changes were made to customer website and handle with customer
- Overall
- Must have strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with both internal and external partners
- Strong sense of accountability and understanding of when to escalate potential issues
Bonus Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience working in compliance with a focus on card issuance and acquiring
- CRCM, CAMS, CFE, and/or CFCS certification
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance obligations for payment and/or card issuing platforms
- Successful under pressure and with shortened or changing deadlines
- Demonstrated success developing solutions to complex problems

- At Highnote we have built a total rewards philosophy that includes fair, equitable, geo-based compensation that is performance and potential based. Our compensation packages are competitive based on robust market research and are a combination of a cash salary, equity, and benefits. In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual salary range for applicants is $90,000-$150,000
Please note that positions located in San Francisco are hybrid and include core working days of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office.
