Senior Data Analyst

Location: Burnaby, BC (Fully Remote)
Duration: 12 months (Possibility of extension)
Estimated Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week
 
Mandatory Skills
We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst with 5+ years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. We are also looking for:

• Advanced or Expert skills in one or more of the following: SAS, R, SQL, Python
• Experience working with health administrative data and data warehouses
• Manipulating and compiling large databases
• Significant experience writing programs and queries to manipulate and compile large health datasets and analyze the date accordingly
• Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or related discipline
• Experience within BC Health Authorities/Sector is a plus

 
The main responsibilities of the Digital Referrals and Orders Data Analyst are to develop and publish a Digital Referrals & Orders performance dashboard, to analyze referral patterns between healthcare provider senders and receivers to inform implementation strategy and roadmaps and to support the development of reports and briefing notes by providing data analysis and visuals to support findings.

1. Develop and publish the DRO performance dashboard to measure performance and quality indicator by combining data extracted from the OceanMD Analytics platform with other process and quality measures.
2. Document standard operating procedures for data collection and analysis processes. 
3. Maintain a data dictionary.
4. Work with DRO and CHS implementation team members to identify data analytics needs and document requests. 
5. Develops complex data extraction and transformation scripts, including data linkages, to prepare data for analysis. Performs analysis and prepares reports and other analytical products (e.g. dashboards, scorecards). Implements indicators for monitoring and regular reporting.   
6. Skilled with and uses tools such as Excel, Power BI, SAS, SPSS, Python
7. Translates complex data analysis into charts, tables, infographics and other easily consumed visuals to educate and inform team members, health care providers and the public. 
8. Assists the DRO team in the development of dashboards, tables, charts and trending graphs to inform presentations and reports.
9. Takes measures to protect all data and information sources to comply with protection of confidentiality and privacy policies. 
10. Produces regular and ad hoc reports as requested.
11. Identify and implement prospective and methods to avoid, reduce and rectify data quality issues.  
12. Collaborates with appropriate personnel within the) and the ministry to obtain data and understand its meaning in order to properly analyze it
13. Collaborates with the CHS Knowledge Translation and Evaluation team to support the development of key performance indicators and reporting requirements to monitor benefits of the DRO program.
14. Identifies learning needs that contribute to skill enhancement fosters a working environment that stimulates learning and inquiry for the team.
15. Collaborates with all team members and communicates information in a timely manner.
