General Information

Unit Specifics:

·         Behavioral Health ER overflow unit.  Once patients are medically cleared in BH ER pod and disposition is not determined patients will be moved to BAU for oversight and assessment by BH team.

·         Number of Beds : 12 recliners

·         Unit staffing description- Dependent on census of unit could have 1 RN/1 BHT or 2 RN

·         Type of equipment : Pyxis, Blood draws, Vitals

·         Documentation system: Meditech

·         Scheduling requirements: 3 shifts per week, every other weekend

·         Floating policy: Possible floating to BH ER if unit is closed

·         Patient Experience requirements: Behavioral Health experience

Hospital Specifics-

·         Certifications: RN certification, CPI (preferred)

Hiring profile

Requested Skill Set: Behavioral Health experience

Must have: Compassion, patience, flexibility

Advanced skills needed: solid medical skills as patients are still in ED status, de-escalation skills

Procedures performed on unit:  Blood draw

Certifications Required: CPI preferred can obtain CPI upon hire

Dress Code: (Required uniform)

·          Blue Scrubs

·         Locked ER overflow unit, hourly rounding by RN’s, q15 checks on patients, discharges, communication with psychiatrists, medication administration.

·         Behavioral Health has 3 units within Trident Medical Center that work to support each other.  Recent turnover due to 1 RN moving out of state and 1 RN changing careers to teaching which has been her dream.  Overall low turnover with team.
