 JOB DESCRIPTION 

Position:          Graham Sign Language Scheduler

Supervision:    Reports to Director of Interpreting        

Status:             Full-Time Work from Home (100% Telework) This position is applicable to residents of most states in the US, except States in the Pacific time zone, HI, AZ, CO, IL, OH, MN, MI, WI, NJ, NY, and New England states

Classification: Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Pay/Benefits:   Hourly Pay ranging from equivalent of $40K-$50K Commensurate with Experience, 100% employer paid health benefits, paid vacation, Long-term disability and Short-term disability, sick leave, personal days, 6 federal paid holidays plus two additional, retirement with company match after 12 months, employee assistance program, Financial Fitness learning library, and company perks.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Graham Sign Language Scheduler is a Full-Time, work-from-home position (8am to 5pm EST with one hour of breaks each day) that works closely with the Interpreting Team. This specialist plays a key role in Sign Language and Deaf Communication Access scheduling, by successfully receiving client requests, data entry into the scheduling system, outreach to interpreters to fulfill requests, scheduling, and interpreter placement coordination. This position requires fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), minimum two years of Sign Language Scheduling experience, professionalism and courtesy, excellent customer service and organizational skills, and openness to learning and training. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 

    Represent Graham Inc. with positivity, respect, courtesy, and professionalism to all internal and external contacts, including fellow Graham team members, client requesters of Deaf Communication access services, Interpreters, and end-users of Graham’s services.
  • Advocate for best practices (appropriate interpreter placement, client education regarding Deaf interpreters, ensuring two interpreters are placed when needed, advocating for occupational safety of interpreters, and being the first line of communication for all client inquiries regarding Interpreting). 
  • Remain readily accessible for client or interpreter needs or issues that arise during an interpreting assignment currently in progress. 
  • Promote and practice Graham’s mission and values, following its policies, processes, and procedures.
    Receive and assess incoming requests for Sign Language Interpreting and CART services.
o   Prepare client quotes for jobs as needed.
o   Follow up with requesters to ensure Graham receives all important job details, billing contact(s), and preparatory materials for most successful interpreting services.
o   Ask clarifying questions to determine best interpreter placement.
o   Enter new client information, bill rates, and contact information into the USked portal. Enter new interpreter information, pay rates, cancellation and request policies, notes, and more into the USked portal.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

        Continuous monitoring of incoming requests via email, phone, text, or other means.

        Prompt response to client inquiries and interpreter inquiries.

        Receiving client requests and entering into USked scheduling database.

        Schedule and Coordination of Sign Language and other Deaf communication service.

        Regular, dependable attendance and consistent satisfactory or above job performance.

        Other duties, as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred unless indicated as a Requirement)

 

        Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). (Required)

        2 years minimum Sign Language Scheduling experience. (Required)  

        Strong written English communication skills (email is the primary means of communication at Graham). (Required)

        Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.). (Required)

        Knowledge of Deaf Culture and Communities. (Required) 

        Knowledge of Interpreting field and practices.  (Required) 

        Demonstrated experience using interpreter scheduling system database(s). (Required)
 

TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS (Preferred unless indicated as a Requirement)

 

        High School Diploma or GED. Comparable experience may be accepted in lieu of education. (Required)

        Fluency in American Sign Language. (Required)

        Understand the full life-cycle of a client Sign Language request (or other communication access request), from first contact to job completion. (Required)

        Maintain professional and updated LinkedIn profile, and maintain clean or private social media presence on other platforms. (Required)

        Use USked Scheduling Platform.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is generally performed in a professional home office setting.

        This position routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptops, computers, and company phone Voice Over IP application / with desk phone option.

        Occasional travel to participate in community outreach events may be requested.
