Senior Data Engineer / Retail background

Senior Data Engineer role based in MN with 100% remote work. Need someone who has worked with LARGE data sets. Like in the millions. Retail background. Need some exposure to Java experience

Role : Senior Data Engineer.

Location : Minneapolis, MN

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer. In this role, you will design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, dealing with massive amounts of data. This is an ideal position for someone who excels at leveraging data-driven capabilities to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of complex systems.

Job Responsibilities:

Establish, design and optimize data architecture and data processing pipelines.

Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects.

Develop high-quality database solutions, add new features to existing systems and develop and maintain effective reporting and analytics capabilities.

Recommend and implement ways to improve data quality, reliability, efficiency, and other aspects of data management systems.

Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices for information security.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or a related field.

5+ years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar role.

Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.

Knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data infrastructure, and data architecture.

Nice-to-Haves:

Advanced degree in a relevant field of study.

Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.

Familiarity with machine learning.

Certifications such as Google Cloud Certified - Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Big Data Specialty, or similar.

Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced agile environment.
