Role
The Project Engineer is responsible for completion of project activities assigned by the Project Managers, ensuring they align with client requirements, legislative standards, and project goals. The role includes procurement management, design review, project scheduling, and customer satisfaction, with occasional travel required for project finalization and client meetings.
Responsibilities
Pre-Construction:
- Specify and manage procurement activities for materials and services.
- Ensure compliance with client, legislative, regulatory, and authority requirements during design services.
- Review and develop efficient engineering solutions that meet customer needs.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to confirm product performance.
- Determine and manage project schedules by studying project plans and sequencing elements.
Project Engineering:
- Maintain project schedules by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving issues using MS Projects and MS Planner.
- Control project plans by reviewing design specifications and recommending necessary changes.
- Manage project costs by reviewing quotes and expenditures.
- Oversee mechanical design and component selection, including review of specifications and datasheet development.
- Develop installation, testing, and commissioning procedures.
- Liaise with workshop and production teams on in-house fabrication and assembly.
- Ensure quality of incoming and outgoing goods and their compliance with orders.
- Travel as required across Australia and New Zealand for project finalization and client meetings.
Stakeholder Management and Administration:
- Liaise with customers on technical issues and manage external manufacturers and contractors.
- Coordinate project testing and oversee document controls.
- Manage project manuals and manufacturers’ data reports (MDR).
Workplace Health and Safety:
- Coordinate and attend risk assessment meetings, including HAZOPs, FEMA, and SIL assessments.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state safety regulations and report unsafe working conditions.
- Adhere to safety protocols at all times.
Requirements
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of project engineering experience, with a solid background in construction and Oil & Gas industries.
- Engineering degree with CPEng or RPEQ preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Projects, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other design programs.
- Demonstrated experience in procurement and supplier negotiations.
- Familiarity with Australian legislative, regulatory, and authority standards.
- Strong skills in managing customer experiences and understanding design reviews.
- Ability to manage project schedules and budgets effectively.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills, with a proactive and customer-centric approach to problem-solving and resource management.
