Graduate Writing Center Tutor (AY 23-24 C91158)

The Graduate Writing Center offers free, one-on-one writing tutoring to all MIIS students. This semester, the GWC is looking to hire several new writing tutors to support fellow students in developing their writing skills.

• Read student writing in advance of tutoring sessions and prepare constructive feedback related to content, language,structure, and style
• Deliver constructive feedback during tutoring sessions at the Writing Center
• Follow up with students via email as necessary
• Participate in Writing Center workshops or events as necessary

Requirements

Requirement: As a tutor, you must have...

• Advanced proficiency in English
• Experience in teaching writing or tutoring writing-related subjects
• Knowledge of academic and professional genres, as well as stylistic conventions
• Availability to tutor students 4-6 hours per week at the Writing Center or Online (evenings and weekends)

All MIIS students are welcome to apply. However, preference will be given to students with Federal Work Study. You will need to submit a Cover Letter and a sample of your writing on the application.
