ROLE DESCRIPTION
The primary objective of this role is to deliver proactive, professional administrative and compliance services to our Client. As a Conflict Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the client adhered to its legal and regulatory obligations concerning conflict check and sanctions checks on all new clients across all offices. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of both legal and commercial conflicts within a Law firm
As a member of the Intake Team, you are the gatekeeper responsible for upholding our regulatory commitments and aiding the client in managing its reputational risk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducting thorough conflict searches for new clients and matters using the client's conflict management system or through independent searches.
- Reviewing and verifying the accuracy and completeness of conflict search requests submitted by the business, and engaging with the requesting team to resolve any queries.
- Analysing data within the client's conflict management systems and other databases/sources, including external resources, to identify potential conflicts of interest.
- Accurately identifying potential conflict issues, summarising them for additional review, posing follow-up questions to fee earners, and escalating complex cases to the Conflicts Investigation Team (CIT) as needed.
- Crafting precise analyses and recommending subsequent actions for CIT consideration.
- Resolving low-risk conflict issues where applicable.
- Collaborating closely with CIT to provide a swift and effective service to lawyers.
- Implementing information barriers as necessary.
- Ensuring the confidentiality of all inquiries received from fee earners, Legal PAs, and other support staff.
- Addressing inquiries from fee earners, secretaries, and other support staff efficiently.
- Liaising with senior members of the Risk team to maintain high compliance standards.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with fee earners and secretaries, and communicating any concerns to Compliance Managers.
- Developing a deep understanding of the client's, client base.
- Participating actively in team meetings.
Requirements
- 2-5 years experience as a Conflicts analyst in a Law firm
- Conflict check process and sanctions screening experience essential
- Qualification in Law, Paralegal studies, business administration or related field would be advantageous
- Certification or training in legal compliance, risk management, or similar area can be advantageous.
- Experienced with conflict check process and sanctions screening
- Proficiency in using conflict management system and databases
- Strong research skills and ability to analyse complex information from various sources
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in conflict checks and reporting
- Strong communication for effective interaction with fee earners, PA’s and legal team
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
