Provide expert consultation within the broader learning team, taking design initiative on all aspects of course development. Red Hat's People (HR) team is looking for a Senior Instructional Designer who specializes in leadership, professional development, and diversity course development to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be in charge of learning design and development efforts by applying your knowledge of best practices in andragogy. You'll collaborate with consultants, portfolio managers, multimedia developers, technology platform team, and subject matter experts to create learning experiences that demonstrate sound adult learning strategies, produce desired learning outcomes, and develop targeted competencies. As a Senior Instructional Designer, you'll need to be able to thrive and succeed in a very collaborative, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Primary job responsibilities
Scope and estimate level of effort for project deliverables
Devise creative solutions strategies that meet the business needs and solve business problems
Design and develop learning materials in accordance with established design models for instructor and virtual instructor-led training, multimedia, video, and other learning-related materials
Consult with other instructional designers, portfolio managers, consultants, or subject matter experts regarding learning strategies, blended design, and business requirements that impact the learning needs and learning solutions initiatives
Conduct analyses of target audience, training requirements, and media requirements
Design training materials and assessments in adherence to brand standards
Test training materials to ensure their quality
Demonstrate high levels of motivation through meeting and working within established project budgets and timelines
Exhibit solid interpersonal and communication skills that enable successful internal and external interaction in a variety of modes including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, phone conferences, virtual meetings, and written communication
Participate in and lead special projects as required
Required skills
8-10 years of related instructional design and development experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Deep knowledge of adult learning theory and the human performance improvement (HPI) model and how to apply these theories in the design of learning experiences
Recent experience designing instruction for leaders including the design of multimedia training, paper-based training materials, and related documentation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on your own and with diverse teams
Ability to learn new tools and processes quickly with little guidance or documentation
Ability to edit and perform quality assurance (QA) on your own work
Understanding of agile methodology and ability to handle multiple priorities in a very fluid working environment
High proficiency and productivity in G Suite tools, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, etc.
