Job Title: Adult Outpatient Supervisor ( Level IX )
Title of Immediate Supervisor: Divisional Director of Adult Outpatient
Position Description:
This exempt (FLSA) position's incumbent provides clinical support and supervision to adult outpatient clinicians and peer specialists who provide services to individuals and their families with behavioral health and/or substance use disorder needs. Responsible for conducting chart reviews for adult outpatient clinicians and peer support specialists and for ensuring that documentation and case records are accurate and meet state and federal requirements and Board policies and procedures. Responsible for completing monthly reports on caseloads and staff productivity. Monitors and ensures staffing coverage to meet service needs and ensures that behavioral health practices and services meet licensing standards. Provides Same Day Access services and completes comprehensive needs assessments to determine services that are needed for the individual. Assists in the development of person-centered Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and provides individual and group therapy to individuals diagnosed with behavioral health and/or substance use disorders. Coordinates services and treatment with other programs at SBH, private providers, and community partners. This individual is expected to complete and maintain certification requirements for an emergency services prescreener and to provide emergency services as needed during work hours.
Essential Functions (Tasks & Duties):
1. Provides direct supervision of therapists and peer support staff in adult outpatient services
2. Completes monthly reports on caseloads and staff productivity and submits to the Divisional Director of Adult Outpatient and to the Director of Clinical Services
3. Monitors therapeutic interventions and case records for compliance with licensing regulations, including the accuracy and completeness of records
4. Completes staff performance evaluations on an annual basis and meets with staff for supervision weekly with license eligible clinicians and peers and monthly with licensed clinicians and as needed
5. Ensures coverage of behavioral health services in the county in which this position is located
6. Provides Same Day Access services and completes screenings and a comprehensive needs assessment to determine the diagnosis and service needs of individuals
7. Develops Individualized Service Plans and provides clinical services to individuals diagnosed with behavioral health needs through individual, family, or group counseling utilizing evidence based practices
8. Responsible for maintaining accurate and timely documentation according to federal, state and agency requirements
9. Responsible for meeting the productivity standards for this position
10. Develops and implements behavioral health services and/or programs in consultation with the Divisional Director of Adult Outpatient and the Director of Clinical Services
11. Coordinates services and treatment with other programs at SBH, private providers, and community partners
12. Responsible for representing Southside Behavioral Health in behavioral health services through agency net-working and community education
13. Develops and maintains effective working relationships, building consistent teamwork and team performance
14. Assists individuals and their family members in problem-solving and coping strategies
15. Consults with doctor/nurse practitioner and/or other staff, as needed
16. Participates in consultations with clinical staff as well as in staffing and supervision meetings
17. Completes and maintains emergency services prescreener certification and provides emergency services as needed
18. Directors, Coordinators and Supervisors will be included in the internship program and if asked will be expected to provide supervision and support to 1-2 interns annually as part of the growth of the industry and agency employment acquisition.
19. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor consistent with operational Board policies and procedures
Position Qualifications
The entry level qualifications for this position are as follows:
A.Requisite knowledge, skills and abilities:
1.Knowledge of clinical supervision in relation to community-based behavioral health services.
2.Knowledge of clinical supervision principles and evaluation practices.
3.Knowledge of behavioral health and substance use disorders.
4.Knowledge of treatment modalities for behavioral health and substance use disorders.
5.Knowledge of group and individual therapy techniques.
6.Knowledge of MH/SUD assessment and screening tools, i.e. ASAM, AUDIT, PHQ-9 , DLA-2, Columbia.
7.Knowledge of diagnostic and assessment techniques using the DSM.
8.Knowledge of federal and state licensure requirements and appropriate documentation practices.
9.Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders and care coordination and resources for those populations.
10.Knowledge of development of individualized service plans and documentation guidelines.
11.Knowledge of crisis intervention skills and ability to conduct a pre-screen.
12.Knowledge of program planning and implementation methods.
13.Knowledge of appropriate monitoring techniques of behavioral health programs and staff functions.
14.Knowledge of caseload management and productivity for behavioral health services.
15.Ability to work with diverse individuals and to establish trust/rapport with others.
16.Ability to document accurately and in a comprehensive manner to meet regulatory guidelines.
17.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
18.Ability to organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
19.Skills in assessing/identifying situations and finding appropriate resolution (problem-solving skills).
20.Ability to supervise staff, maximizing strengths.
21.Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
B.Special licenses, registration or certification: Licensed Professional Counselor-VA and/or Licensed Clinical Social Worker-VA is required; valid driver's license.
C.Education or training (cite major area of study): Master's level education in Human Services,Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work is required
D.Level and type of previous work experience: At least two years of LMHP level work experience related to behavioral health and substance use services required.
