- Under the general direction of the Multicraft Services Supervisor this position assists with the efficient operation of the University by performing highly skilled journey level work in electrical maintenance, complicated electrical/electro-mechanical systems, equipment, and devices.
- Provide highly skilled journey level electrician duties such as complex installs, repairs of electrical equipment including automatic and process controls, switch boards, control centers, panels, relays, circuit breakers, and electronic controls including alarm and communication systems, etc.
- Sets-up secondary distribution centers, balances loads, and wires or lays out the wiring of complex circuits with a large number of connections.
- Replace or repair parts including replacing defective wiring and making connections to new electrical installations. Detects and replaces defective control modules and test and makes adjustments. Including replacing small parts in motors, cleaning and oiling motors, and repairing fixtures.
- Repair, maintain, and construct interior and exterior electrical systems up to 4800 volts. Install overhead and underground distribution systems and all ancillaries thereof.
- Perform maintenance on power substations, vaults, and reads meters. Prepares pertinent records, keeps electrical areas free of dirt and debris. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions of interior and exterior systems including repair, replacement or construction of components. Perform repair and maintenance of electrical equipment such as motors, generators, regulators, appliances and controls.
- Conduct tests on automatic alarms and fire sprinkler systems incorporating electrical transmitters, flow switches and alarm bells.
- Care for and use tools and equipment properly. Select the correct tools and equipment necessary for performing each task.
- May assist in planning and developing modifications to existing electrical systems. May assist in developing specifications, diagrams and blueprints.
- May assist in making job estimates regarding cost of material and labor.
- Provides customer service to students, faculty, staff and external customers. Meets customer needs, offers options, resolves problems and follows up with customers. Ensures full customer satisfaction without unnecessarily referring customer to other staff members. Maintains friendly, helpful demeanor.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Observe and comply with all governmental and university safety regulations governing industrial equipment and personal conduct.
- Follows assigned work orders, performs a variety of basic multicraftsman tasks, and maintains the cleanliness of work areas and building systems.
- Represent LMU at various construction project meetings, job walks with vendors, and at professional organizations or associations, serve on committees as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Experience: | - Minimum 7-10 years proven electrician experience.
- Must have knowledge of principles and theory of electricity and its application on equipment up to 4800 volts.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: shop mathematics, blueprint reading; operation and mechanics of electromechanical control and controlled devices, care for and use of appliance equipment is necessary. Should possess a working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and observe safety regulations governing industrial equipment and personal conduct.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and equipment for malfunctions, sign of damage, deterioration, or adjustment.
- Knowledge of standard practices, processes, and use of materials and hand and power tools used in multiple crafts.
- Perform a variety of general maintenance and repair work. Must be able to properly and safely use equipment and tools. Ability to read instructions and follow written and/or verbal instructions; effectively work independently as well as part of a team. Interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills; effective and timely problem solving skills. Sufficient math skills to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
