We are actively looking for a Transmission Specialist to join our growing Utilities team!
Responsibilities:
- Implementation of the Customer's Electrical Safety Rules on site, including the safe system of work
- Advise operationally on high voltage electrical installations to WTG, offshore substations and both HV submarine and onshore cables.
- Oversee safe commissioning of grid connections, onshore substations and associated MV/HV/LV plant and equipment.
- Oversee all MV/HV/LV electrical operational activities to ensure safety, security and integrity of the HV network.
- Contribute to proactive management, good coordination and communication between all parties and that the process works effectively.
- Outage management and network control in collaboration with the Control Engineers
- Inspect work sites and perform site safety inspections and auditing for electrical matters.
- Coordinate with the Lead Commissioning Project Manager to ensure that accurate updates are distributed to the Project Management
- Coordinate with National Grid and attend commissioning panel meetings.
- Prepare and check high voltage switching schedules.
- Check method statements for electrical matters.
- Provide technical advice to working parties for electrical matters.
- Assist different departments when required.
- Attendance at FAT and SAT tests if required.
- Input to the project commissioning management manual and related documents (including pre-commissioning and commissioning quality plans)
- Reports from FAT & SAT on the different high voltage equipment if required.
- Participation in the planning of resource and work activities.
- Deliver inputs to the design phase of the project on technical aspects.

Physical Requirements:
- Employees must complete a background investigation and successfully complete drug screenings
- Full-time position based at: Offshore location in Long Island, NY
- Only qualified candidates will be considered
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Appropriate electrical qualification and background.
- Ability to complete GWO courses and HUET with CA-EBS if required by site (climbing gear person weight limit – 120kg/264lb).
- Several years of operation and commissioning experience within the field of high-voltage electricity.
- Minimum 1-3 years of working experience within onshore substations systems.
- Knowledge of Gas Insulated Switchgear.
- Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out or specific switching, tagging and isolation procedures.
- Knowledge in switching and isolation of HV/MV/LV equipment.
- Ability to read and decipher electrical drawing schematics.
- Flexibility to work/live offshore for extended periods.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Applications.
- Flexibility to travel for work locations.
- Knowledge or certification in OSHA 10, NFPA 70e and NESC standards.
