Senior Specialty Infrastructure Engineer

Hiring a Senior Specialty Infrastructure Engineer for a fast paced healthcare environment. The role is remote with occasional on-site and candidates my be within a 90 minute drive from Virginia Beach, VA.

You will be responsible for high-level network planning, design, and optimization. Translate business requirements into network or process designs. Plan and recommend network hardware, systems management software and architecture. Configure and maintains routers and switches for the network.

The Specialty Infrastructure Engineer role includes updating hardware required for maintenance of cloud, network, and telecommunication and any connectivity issues that could crop up, detecting system and application issues, and ensuring the smooth flow of data and voice throughout the organization.

This is a hands-on position. Once hired, you will be expected to travel on-site as needed and perform Layer 1 type work, which includes Rack & Stack of networking hardware, troubleshooting, etc.

We need someone that can work unsupervised and provide the needed backfill of knowledge to the junior resources (take over when they can't resolve stuff).

This position consists of hands-on configuration work as well as intensive troubleshooting in a healthcare environment.

Job Requirements:

• BLD Bachelor's Level Degree
• Experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree
• 5+ years of relevant experience with a degree
• 7+ years of relevant experience without a degree
• Cisco CCNP certification level ideal (active or expired)

1. Must Haves:
   1. Strong hands-on routing/switching
   2. Solid Cisco switch experience Nexus and Catalyst required.
      • They are moving to Juniper so either have Juniper or willing to learn.
   3. Solid Layer 2 and Layer 3
   4. Solid BGP routing
   5. Must be good at the command line
   6. Basic Nexus switching knowledge.
   7. Network design and architecture
   8. Must be agreeable to rotating on-call; approx. every 3-4 weeks
   9. Must be agreeable to travel on-site as needed and perform Layer 1 type work, which includes Rack & Stack of networking hardware, troubleshooting, etc.
   10. Ability to mentor more junior engineers

Pluses would be:

1. Cisco/Fortinet Firewall experience
2. Cisco Wireless and Juniper Mist Wireless experience
3. Juniper Router configuration experience
4. Cisco Client experience (2.x/3.x)
5. Desired CCNP Certification
