The Building People, LLC, has an opening for a Facility Operations Engineer/Project Manager (Senior Engineer). The position assumes a supporting role in working with regional and local facility managers onsite, frequently in remote areas, collaborating with other technical employees across the nation, and interfacing with sub-contractors on and offsite. The facilities are considered “critical” for continuous operations of the client-agency and this position assumes demonstrated experience, high comfort level, and competency in managing the infrastructure for critical missions. The ideal candidate will be an experienced technical leader and a well-rounded resource in areas of general construction and building systems who will be responsible for ensuring that all critical mission facility activities and project development are under budget and on schedule.
Specific areas of responsibility will include (but are not limited to):
- Provide project management and technical support for operations and maintenance, design development, project execution, and construction closeout.
- Perform onsite audits of physical plant conditions to recommend preventive maintenance practices, plant upgrades, building upgrades in support of plant operations and long-term equipment replacement strategies.
- Perform facility condition risk assessments and gap analysis and document results in reports for management.
- Assist in data gathering and reporting for environmental, sustainability, and energy management compliance initiatives.
- Assist in office relocation projects to minimize occupant disruption.
- Assist in business case analyses, generation of Statements of Work (SOW), Rough Order of Magnitudes (ROM), construction estimates, budgets, capital investment review, and earned value analysis.
Required Experience & Skills
- 5 to 10 years of construction project management. Specific to facilities and data centers.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in mission-critical facility support, plan review, specification review, small medium project design development, and basic related calculation validation, project scheduling and ROM cost estimating,
- Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to write grammatically correct technical documents,
- Display superior interpersonal skills working with a team of engineers and managers and have an acumen in assisting with the overall management of a variety of projects,
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and/or daily guidance.
- Superior working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and Project Management software.
- Ability to pass a federal contracting security screening process.
- Commute to an office location in Anchorage, AK.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Facility with AutoCAD drawing manipulation and interpretation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD to produce plans of a medium complexity in a timely manner.
- Technical skills in HVAC, BMS, Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, and Security Surveillance Systems.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree
- Engineering degree related to infrastructure, construction management and/or physical plant systems. Equivalent experience and relevant certifications may be considered with quantifiable significant experience.
