Role: Automation Discipline Engineer
Location: Houston, TX 77056
 
Description:
The Automation Discipline Engineer represents several branches of control systems specialization including Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Basic Process Control Systems (BPCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).  This position works collaboratively with capital project teams to provide expertise in their area of specialization to ensure project designs meet Tesoro and SITE reliability and operational performance needs.  This position works closely with corporate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the implementation of engineering standards and industry best practice.  
Consistent with OEMS, participates in the Project Management Process and ensures that the selected technology and scope enhance inherent safety & security, minimize risk to health and the environment, while meeting reliability, cost, schedule, quality and financial objectives.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1.         Proven experience in technical aspects of automation project execution
2.         Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of automation systems.
3.         Possesses primary technical and/or functional responsibility for automation project execution
4.         Acts in a Lead technical and supervisory role in project definition, development and execution
5.         Has detailed experience in project estimating, planning and managerial/leadership aspects of project work
6.         Has experience in leading project sub-teams during system design and implementation
7.         Strong Computer and database skills preferred
8.         Strong Leadership Ability, communication skills, loyalty, enthusiasm and diplomacy
9.         Has a good working knowledge of current industry specific technology and the application of current engineering software /tools
10.      Work at plant sites to support to provide engineering support during installation, testing and commissioning of systems
11.      Proactively analyzes the project workflow and addresses potential roadblocks before they materialize.

14.      Drives stakeholder alignment between site personnel and the project team through efficient decision making.
