The impact you'll make:

The Director of Distribution and Logistics will be responsible for overseeing Saje's retail and eCommerce fulfillment across Canada and the US. In this vital position, you'll oversee our distribution and logistics functions, ensuring our products reach our customers efficiently while meeting our quality standards. You'll manager all distribution centers within the Saje network, including both in-house and 3PL operations. 

All Saje Team Members are responsible for contributing to Saje’s culture and maintaining a positive environment for themselves and their peers.

What you'll do:

The Director of Distribution and Logistics takes on a crucial role by ensuring efficient product delivery and optimal inventory management, directly impacting customer satisfaction and loyalty. Their strategic oversight reduces operational costs, streamlines supply chain processes, and supports Saje's growth, all while fostering a culture of growth and innovation within the logistics team.

Strategic & Business Planning

  • Actively contribute to shaping our overall business strategy while embodying our values, mission and vision. 
  • Stay up to date on latest innovations and trends in omnichannel distribution, seeking out exciting opportunities for Saje to enhance our strategy and better serve our community.
  • Collaborate closely with your team and cross-functional partners to align with our strategic goals. 
  • Propose comprehensive operating plans to the VP Operations for enhancing the distribution and logistics functions. 
  • Develop and manage budgets while keeping costs in check for logistics, facilities, supplies and freight network. 

Organizational Structure & Team Management 

  • Align the departmental structure with Saje's distribution, logistics and trade needs to ensure seamless operations.  
  • Support your function through recruitment, mentorship and nurturing talent, empowering Team Members to grow and excel in their roles and responsibilities. 

Process, Systems and Standards 

  • Establish and implement standardized and consistent processes for delivering services and using resources effectively.
  • Identify key metrics and bring in top-notch systems and processes to support your function to achieve its goals. 

Inventory Planning & Management 

  • Collaborate with the VP Operations, retail and eCommerce Teams to develop an effective inventory planning process that determines the best and most cost-effective ways to manage inventory across distribution centers. 
  • Create an inventory management strategy that meets our financial goals and ensures smooth operational delivery. 

Logistics

  • Establish plans and strategies that enhance Saje's ability to ensure the right product is at the right place at the right time (perfect order). 
  • Establishes contracts with 3PL companies, sets service levels, and conducts regular audits to keep everything on track. 
  • Work with 3PL partners to find ways to boost performance and cut costs. 
  • Oversee all inbound, outbound and trade functions to ensure our teams are running smoothly and efficiently. 
  • Negotiate contracts with freight, logistics and 3PL vendors across North America.

Warehousing & VAS

  • Develop a plan to boost operational efficiency at Saje's distribution centers and working with our 3PL partners to set service metrics that align with our brand promise. 
  • Create strategies to enhance our performance and save costs by embracing automation. 
  • Oversee product kitting, rework and packaging to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and meet supply needs. 

Customer Service

  • Be committed to exceptional customer service for both internal and eCommerce needs by creating systems and procedures that keep things reliable and meet fulfillment expectations. 
  • Create benchmarks for service standards that evolve and adapt to meet consumer expectations. 
  • Maintain a costumer-centric mindset, encouraging the team to deliver exceptional service. 

Quality

  • Provides guidance to the on-site quality team to ensure that incoming products meet our quality standards, along with general quality assurance across all distribution centers (in-house and 3PL). 
  • Ensure compliance with Health Canada standards for Natural Health Products. 

Benchmarking and Performance Measurement

  • Imrpove distribution and logistics benchmarking and performance measurement to highlight best-in-class practices and inspire proactive behavior within the teams. 
  • Celebrate success and encourage continuous improvement. 

Technology

  • Enhance our use of technology, making sure we're supporting best practices that boost reliability and fulfillment rates in a timely and cost-effective way. 
  • Utilize innovative applications that streamline operations and integrate valuable information, helping Saje excel in long-range planning and goal achievement. 

We'd love to hear from you if you hold: 

  • 5-10 years of experience in a Sr. Distribution role. 
  • Experience in contract negotiation with freight, logistics and 3PL vendors across North America. 
  • Experience analyzing metrics and KPIs. 
  • Experience with budget development, and managing costs around logistics, facilities, labour, supplies and freight network. 
  • Supply Chain Management - Understanding of supply chain principles, logistics strategies, and inventory management techniques.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Familiarity with regulations and standards related to transportation, warehousing, and safety.
  • Budgeting and Financial Acumen - Understanding of budgeting processes and cost management related to logistics and distribution.
  • People Leadership - The ability to inspire, motivate and empower local and remote teams through effective communication, empathy, collaboration, and active listening. The ability to recognize and develop strengths. 
  • Strategic and Innovative Thinking - Have a vision for the future with creative problem-solving, driving meaningful change and growth within Saje. 
  • Collaborative Leadership: Work with others to achieve a common goal through open communication, shared decision-making, and mutual respect. 
  • Process-Driven: Emphasize the importance of established procedures and workflows to streamline tasks, reduce errors and ensure quality and efficiency.

The compensation range for this position is from $150,000 – $170,000 CAD annually. Base pay is dependent on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
