Job Title: NP (APRN Advanced Practice Nurse)
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8-4
Guaranteed Hours:40 hours per week
Pay: $93 to $97 per hr
Position Summary: The WPPA Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing primary care services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating and educating patients. Works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care.
May specialize in a specific type of clinical care, e.g. pediatrics, geriatrics.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
2. Conducts patient rounds as necessary. Formulates and implements a therapeutic plan of care with physicians and staff. Writes in progress notes.
3. Assesses daily plan of care and recommends actions in collaboration with the patients physician.
4. Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing. Maintains contact with the ancillary testing areas for follow up.
5. Performs regular medication reviews for patients and modifies orders as necessary.
6. Recommends appropriate consults as needed.
7. Communicates with patient/family regarding plan of care and discharge plan.
8. Interacts with third party insurers regarding plan of care and continued stay.
9. Participates as needed in finalizing a safe discharge plan. Completes all required documentation.
10. Assists staff in moving patient along clinical pathway.
11. Serves as a resource to the discharge planning staff.
12. Inpatient rounding assist physicians with pre-op and post-op patient assessments.
13. Assist physicians as requested with appropriate surgical procedures.
14. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Current NYS certification as a Nurse Practitioner (either Adult/Geriatric).
Maintains a current collaborative practice agreement.
BCLS certification. Minimum two years experience in an acute care setting.
