Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY

The Contract Veterinarian will provide clinical veterinary coverage during recruiting period of Clinical Veterinarian. The Contractor will provide hands-on clinical veterinary care and case documentation using DVMax Software and report findings to the AV or Comparative Medicine Director.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
In order of importance, list the primary responsibilities critical to the performance of the position. Please include actual tasks and/or essential responsibilities that highlight accountability and level of judgment required.
The contractor will work Monday through Friday, 8 hrs daily, and provide clinical veterinary care and case documentation using DVMax software.
The contractor will conduct daily veterinary rounds with the Veterinary Techincian or trained designee.
The contractor will assist with sample collection for sentinel +/- health monitoring program. The contractor will review results and report findings to the AV and/or Comparative Medicine Director.
The contractor will participate in veterinary and pre-study planning.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Provide the primary groups or key positions that this position will have interaction with as a regular part of the position responsibilities. Include any external interactions as appropriate.
Will have relationships and interactions with: animal health technicians, veterinary and research technicians, Operations Managers, IACUC Coordinator, Regulatory Veterinarian, Comparative Medicine Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Indicate the formal education, certification or license(s) required and/or preferred. Include the minimum number of years of relevant experience required for the position (where legally permissible).
DVM/VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
Formal training in comparative medicine with diplomate status in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine
License to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state within the US
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Indicate the technical skills required and/or preferred, as applicable.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a diverse group of people including research staff in regards to the veterinary care of animals.
Required handling, physical and chemical restraint of laboratory rodents
Required experience in animal model development and refinement.
Required clinical veterinary experience with rodents.
Preferred experience with veterinary health management software such as DVMax.
Preferred MS Office.
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
