Job Description:
Responsibilities: - Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products.
- Operate trucks, forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to move freight.
- Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas.
- Prepare finished products for shipment by identifying their location, then pulling, packing, and loading them.
- Clean, preserve, wrap, and pack parts going out for Shipment.
- Make assignments of incoming materials location and enter them into designated reports and systems.
- Dispatch and/or move materials to specified areas.
- Maintain various receiving records as defined by management.
- Process purchase receipts and sales order shipments for drop shipments.
- Process in-house receipts (contracts for design, repair, services, etc.) to close out purchase orders.
- The ability to read, write, complete simple forms, and understand written instructions, as well as the ability to perform basic arithmetic.
- High school education or its equivalent.
- Active certification for the operation of basic lift trucks.
- Must successfully complete Forklift Driver Training and satisfactorily pass the test.
Education: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-5 years of experience working in a warehouse setting or in logistics; experience in operating material handling equipment preferred.
- Certification to ride forklift trucks preferred.
- Must be able to work well in a team.
- Ability to read, write and follow instructions, and work independently with little guidance.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend and to lift heavy materials.
- Ability to operate computers and relevant warehouse management computer software.
- Notify supervision of irregularities or equipment malfunctions.
Experience: - This is an entry-level position.
- Responsibility for the Safety of Others: Inattention, thoughtlessness, or careless operation of equipment or performance of duties may cause lost-time injuries to others or fatal injuries.
- Responsibility for Equipment or Process: The employee is responsible for the normal use and care of equipment.
- Physical Demand: Moderate physical demand.
- Operating the equipment and gathering/moving materials demands frequent bending from the waist, stooping, twisting, stretching, walking, and standing.
- Material handling equipment is used for carrying and transporting materials.
- Mental/Visual/Auditory Demands: Frequent mental and visual attention is required to perform job duties; the flow of work is intermittent.
- Working Conditions: Good working conditions with some exposure to dust, dirt, noise, vibration, fumes, outside weather, etc.
- Hazards: Injuries are improbable except for minor cuts, abrasions, and bruises.
- Safety goggles/glasses and safety shoes are required for safety in the production area; ear protection, gloves, and aprons are sometimes advisable.
- Initiative and Ingenuity: The employee in this position follows established procedures.
- Decisions on cases not previously covered are based on general knowledge of policies and procedures; unusual cases are referred to supervision.
- Responsibility for Material or Product: Transportation of parts/materials where errors could mean serious delays of product to the customer or seriously impact production efficiency.
- Job Prerequisites: Forklift experience.
