The Job
We are looking for an SHE Officer with extensive background in petrochemicals, chemicals, polymers, or minerals processing to join our team. Reporting to Project Director, the SHE Officer is accountable for leading Safety, Health and Environment activities at Ambercycle. The SHE Officer will develop and facilitate the implementation and administration of safety, health and environment management system across the site and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Accountabilities
- Uphold and represent company safety culture in all meetings, site visits, and workplace activities.
- Create and establish company safety protocols, standards, and trainings.
- Uphold the highest standards of plant and process safety from the design phase, construction phase, and operations phase of company projects.
- Respond to all emergency conditions at all hours related to construction or operational hazard, fire, environmental, and security issues as raised by plant operations staff.
- Coordinate and approach the local authorities on all matters related to construction or operational hazard, fire, safety, security and environmental issues.
- Maintain the reliability of all safety and emergency response equipment.
- As Safety Officer, ensure all work is carried out safely.
- Assist and advise the duty Shift Manager/Site Incidence Commander in an emergency situations.
- Organize drills and trainings.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of safety plans, programs and work activities to identify improvement opportunities including risk assessment and safety inputs into the site risk register.
- Train an effective industrial Emergency Response Team.
- Enforce all company safety policies and regulations.
- Author, review, and modify written procedures related to safety, health, and environment.
- Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.
- Identify and correct potential hazards and ensure safety regulations compliance.
- Perform assessments of Engineering Control and PPE, with compliance to its standards & specifications.
- Authorized to “STOP” the work, if the safety of the work and processes are at stake and not in accordance with the project.
- Promote employees and contractors’ safety awareness and good housekeeping.
- Proactively lead safety and health for all employees in accordance with all regulatory agencies and policies, procedures, and company / site goals.
- Be a positive role model for personal behaviors regarding compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain industrial waste and dispose of it per government regulations.
- Chair Safety Committee.
Responsibilities
- Look after the welfare of all shift employees, has a total administrative line function for all Emergency Response Team.
- Develop, build and train teams with a positive attitude and highly professional work force.
- Ensure all scheduled fire & safety training programs are carried out as planned.
- Perform periodic testing and project management for all emergency response and firefighting equipment.
- Liaise with local authorities on all Safety Health and Environment matters and obtain the requisite certifications.
- Conduct safety and emergency response training.
- Communicate and enforce Ambercycle’s policies and safety regulations.
- Monitor and report on completion of Corrective Action Report (CAR) resulting from investigations, inspections, risk analyses, audits, etc.
- Assist in monitoring site contractors for compliance with company and contractual safety and health requirements.
- Lead the development of plans to ensure that an employee’s occupational health and hygiene is monitored, and issue resolved.
- Coordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, which include the consultants, contractors, sub-contractors and site personnel.
- Provide technical advice, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes, and also promote a friendly climate; create a strong team spirit, good morale and cooperation.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience in safety, health and environment roles.
- 5+ years of most recent experience in the field of petrochemicals, chemicals, mineral processing, or polymers manufacturing.
- 5+ years of experience supervising occupational health and safety in manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience developing and conducting safety and health training.
- Certified General Occupational Safety and Health Expert (Ahli K3 Umum).
- Certified Firefighters Expert (Ahli Pemadam Kebakaran).
Preferred Qualifications
- 10-15 years’ experience in safety, health and environment roles.
- 5+ years of most recent experience in the field of petrochemicals, chemicals, mineral processing, or polymers manufacturing.
- 5+ years of experience supervising occupational health and safety in manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience developing and conducting safety and health training.
- Certified General Occupational Safety and Health Expert (Ahli K3 Umum).
- Certified Firefighters Expert (Ahli Pemadam Kebakaran).
- Industrial Hygiene experience.
- Previous Emergency Management Service (EMS) and/or Emergency Response Team (ERT) experience.
- Experience facilitating incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Relevant experience in developing and administering programs to prevent losses involving people, equipment, material, and the environment.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with all levels of organization to support a culture of care.
- Strong written reporting skills.
- Strong knowledge of risk management from material risks, scope risks to field level assessments and evaluation.
- Effectively communicates with all employees in language which promotes understanding, commitment and teamwork.
