Enviva is looking for a Senior EHS Manager to join our team. The Senior EHS Manager will report directly into the Director, EHS.
Responsibilities
- This role reports directly to the Director, EHS
- Supervise small team of EHS professionals
- Provide oversight and coaching to sites within a region of plant, port, and/or shop facilities
- Identify workplace hazards and work with plant staff to mitigate/abate these hazards
- Work closely with Plant Manager and Director, EHS to understand company needs and mission.
- Work closely with Plant team and corporate resources to continuously improve EH&S programs.
- Provide safety training to all employees, contractors, and vendors as required.
- Lead Safety Committee meetings.
- Perform EH&S compliance audits/assessments of facility and contractor work activities at home site and other facilities in the region
- Effectively communicate with contractor teams to create a documented safe work plan.
- Provide prompt documentation of assessment findings, observations, and recommendations.
- Conduct investigations of Health & Safety incidents to include root cause analysis.
- Implement safe work practices and behaviors to achieve ZERO incidents/accidents (TIR).
- Ensure employees’, contractors’, and vendors’ work practices are in regulatory compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, as well as with company standards and policies.
- Provide subject matter expertise in technical areas to include OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC, NIOSH, ANSI, and ASTM.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading EHS in a manufacturing setting
- Identify workplace hazards and work with plant staff to mitigate/abate these hazards.
- Work closely with Plant Manager to understand company needs and mission.
- Ability to influence Plant Manager, supervisors, and team leaders to lead with safety
- Provide EHS training to all employees, contractors, and vendors as required.
- Lead Safety Committee meetings.
- Lead the locations Emergency Response Team
- Perform EH&S compliance audits/assessments of facility and contractor work activities.
- Effectively communicate with contractor teams to create a documented safe work plan.
- Provide prompt documentation of assessment findings, observations, and recommendations.
- Conduct investigations of Health & Safety incidents to include root cause analysis.
- Implement safe work practices and behaviors to achieve ZERO incidents/accidents (TIR).
- Ensure employees’, contractors’, and vendors’ work practices are in regulatory compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, as well as with company standards and policies.

- OSHA 30 Hour-General Industry
- OSHA 30 Hour-Construction
- NFPA 70e
- Root Cause Analysis (Cause Mapping/Taproot etc.)
- Experience in leading culture change
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.

Physical Requirements
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
- Willing and able to pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Travel Requirements
- Travel up to 15% to sites within assigned region
