Job Brief: The IS (Information Services) Technician is tasked with installing, monitoring, and maintaining, computer systems software and hardware for Production and Office areas. The IS Technician coordinates with IS staff on both shifts to update and install systems and work on projects. A successful IS Technician must have a thorough understanding of computer software, hardware, networking, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills.Specific Responsibilities- Install and configure new software and/or hardware.
- Research and procure IS hardware and supplies.
- Participate in IS inventory asset management.
- Train employees on new systems.
- Perform software updates.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot manufacturing and software equipment issues.
- Create work logs.
- Process documentation.
- Serve as an escalation resource.
- Install and configure new printers, computers, and other equipment.
- Repair hardware.
- Renew licenses and other legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Oversee data storage and preservation.
- Assess potential threats to network and information security systems.
- Perform security-risk prevention actions to include implementation of measures to secure infrastructure and data including firewall management, development and enforcement of information security policies, vulnerability assessments and scans, and application of security patches.
- Monitor ongoing contracts with suppliers.
- Address IS issues that interrupt production operations as overseen by both Operations/Production management staff and Engineering Manager.
- Other tasks and responsibilities related to IS coverage for the company.
- Willingness to support Production schedules.
Education Requirements and Preferences:- High School diploma
- Two-year degree or accredited certification in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred.
- 2-3 years’ experience in IT/IS related work/field desired
- Ability to troubleshoot networking technologies, both hardware and software issues.
- Experience with DOS and other legacy applications
- Proficient in MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
- Previous experience or working knowledge of NYSUS (MES) or SAP is a plus.
