One of Airetel Staffing's valued clients is looking for a Staff GIS Specialist located in Kansas City, MO. The Staff Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist will execute the engineering and design of industry projects utilizing GIS and associated applications. This position will lead project design teams with the development of GIS data, GIS designs, and application integration on a project by project basis. The Staff GIS Specialist will be an integral part of the project team executing GIS design deliverables to meet client needs and drive business results. - Implements GIS, data, and mapping for the Engineering and Design project teams.
- Applies advanced knowledge of commonly used mechanical and electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the engineering services industry.
- Produces technical specifications, project approach, cost estimates and schedules.
- Designs mechanical and electrical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
- Utilize various software packages and information from various sources (MS Access databases, MS Excel spreadsheets and documents such as deeds, field notes etc.) to create GIS maps to support field personnel as well as for deliverables.
- Collaborates with GIS Analysts and Developers in refining processes and creating tools and applications that benefit the project team.
- Leads teams performing field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
- Performs mechanical and electrical engineering design of utility planning projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Creates, modifies and reviews engineering drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: Overhead Transmission Lines, Underground Submarine Cables, Electrical Distribution, Gas Pipelines, Fiber and Utility Networks, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or closely related natural science field, with master's degree in similar field a plus.
- Experience working in the ArcGIS desktop environment is required (ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 or higher a plus).
- Advanced GIS skills
- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts
- Strong industry design knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
