The Role

As a key member of our People Team, you will partner closely with the business, supported by a skilled team of HR, Talent, and People Operations professionals, to cultivate a high-performing, inclusive culture that scales with Prolific’s rapid growth.

Leveraging your deep expertise in HR practices and employment law, you’ll confidently navigate complex employee relations issues, conduct thorough investigations, and make strategic decisions that align with our Prolific Principles. Your leadership and coaching skills will be essential as you collaborate with managers and executives, helping them develop the capabilities needed to lead through periods of change and growth.

As a driver of transformational change, you will focus on building robust, scalable operational processes and people experiences that support Prolific’s expansion. You’ll spearhead the creation and execution of innovative people-related policies and processes, ensuring they align with our long-term goals and sustain the pressures of rapid growth. Your ability to communicate People strategies in a clear, data-driven, and actionable manner will foster strong relationships across the organization and ensure alignment with our strategic objectives.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage People/ER Cases: Take full ownership of Employee Relations cases across Prolific, providing structured guidance to the management team while balancing the needs of both the individual and the business, especially during periods of transformation and change, ensuring fairness and compliance.
  • Drive Performance Management: Lead initiatives to manage under-performance during times of change, equipping managers with the tools and strategies to maintain high standards and support employee development. Facilitate ongoing performance review processes and offer tailored coaching to leaders, empowering them to drive results and enhance team capabilities.
  • Lead Core People Practices: Oversee the employee lifecycle, including engagement surveys, probation, exit interviews, performance management, and progression. Your role will be key in ensuring these processes are effective, scalable, and aligned with business growth.
  • Design and Execute HR Processes: Develop and implement HR processes that engage and enable our people. You’ll lead initiatives to ensure our HR practices are compliant and contribute to a thriving, positive culture at Prolific.
  • Partner with Managers: Act as a trusted advisor to managers, guiding them on how to lead, develop, and empower their teams effectively. You’ll help them build leadership capabilities in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
  • Champion DEI: Be a proactive collaborator and advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). You’ll drive people initiatives aligned with our DEI strategy, ensuring that Prolific remains an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone.
  • Create Engaging Employee Experiences: Design rewarding experiences for employees throughout their journey at Prolific. You’ll craft an environment where people feel valued, motivated, and engaged.
  • Plan and Execute Communications: Play a central role in planning and executing People communications and events, ensuring that our messages resonate with employees and reinforce our company culture.
  • Lead Development Programs: Design and implement development programs focused on enhancing skills and capabilities across the organization. Your initiatives will help employees grow and adapt as we continue to evolve in a fast-paced industry.
  • Manage International Employment: Utilize your knowledge of US employment law and state regulations to manage People processes effectively across jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and consistency in our approach.
  • Collaborate on Change Management: Work closely with other HR colleagues and executives to understand the needs of our people and teams. You’ll be instrumental in driving change management initiatives and key HR projects that scale with our growth.

What you’ll bring

  • HR Expertise: Experienced HR professional, qualified at CIPD Level 5 or equivalent, with strong knowledge of UK employment law and solid Employee Relations (ER) experience.
  • US Employment Law Knowledge: Experience managing HR processes in the US, with a solid understanding of state employment laws.
  • Change Management Skills: Proven experience in change management and leading HR projects, particularly in a high-growth tech startup or fully remote organization.
  • Solutions-Focused Approach: A keen eye for opportunities to simplify, scale, and improve processes, with strong project management skills and the ability to translate metrics into actionable insights.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating change, with the ability to think big and small—articulating a vision while also diving into details and executing tasks alongside the team.
  • Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to guide and coach employees at all levels. You’re approachable, supportive, and have a strong ability to listen and offer constructive advice.
  • Commitment to Culture: A passion for maintaining a thriving, inclusive, and positive culture at Prolific, with the ability to create impactful people-related policies and processes that reflect our values and support growth.
