POP QUIZ!
1. True or False: 3PLs are your BFFs but you can hang with the Lumpers.
2. Short Answer: What’s the difference between a Reefer and a Dry Van?
3. Open Ended Response: Do you love to max out the cube? Why or why not?
4. Hypothetical Question: If you scheduled Truck A to arrive at Point D at 11:27 AM CST, but you went to bed at 8:30 PM CST the night before, you’d still know which point Truck A would be at by midnight, the night before delivery?
We hope that our ideal candidate might get a chuckle out of that quiz or—since no one really loves pop quizzes—at least breeze through it with brilliant answers.
Our familia is looking for a Transportation Coordinator that's sort of like a hybrid between The Energizer Bunny and Thomas the Tank Engine; someone with an abundance of positive energy to power through complex scheduling, and a zeal for connecting the dots and getting everything on track to meet intermodal (and other) deadlines. (Yes, pun intended. And, while we’re here, if you like bad dad jokes, that’s a considerable plus.) Sound like you? Let’s get in touch.
About you:
- You shift into high gear when it comes to moving things from Point A to Point B, C, and allllll the way to Z. What can you say? You like to move it, move it!
- You’re an excellent com-mu-ni-ca-tor.
- Puzzles are your pastime of choice, and missing pieces can’t even throw you off your A-grade puzzle-solving game. The more pieces, the better.
- If Train A leaves the station traveling at 30 miles per hour, and two hours later train В leaves the same station traveling in the same direction at 40 miles per hour, you’ve already overtaken both of them because you’re an organized planner who scheduled the trains in the first place.
- You take note of everything from how your coworkers take their coffee to their dietary needs (and this kindness extends beyond the office!). Known externally and internally for your attention to detail, you go above and beyond!
- In the eye of the storm, you’re the one sipping your cafecito or warm tea and working through ways to get through it and around it. You’re in your element in fast-paced environments because you love a high-speed challenge!
- Your calendar is so organized Marie Kondo thinks Netflix should make a show about you.
- Like a Band-Aid, you love to fix problems, hold things together, and make people feel better.
What you will do:
- Ensure that products are efficiently transported from manufacturing facilities to distribution centers and ultimately to retailers.
- Monitor and process the transportation workflow of orders while updating ERP and transportation systems to maintain shipment data accuracy.
- Identify noncompliant shipments, shipment consolidation opportunities, or shipping calendar efficiencies and collaborate with Customer Operations on shipment revisions.
- Monitor on-time transportation of customer shipments, track compliance, and escalate when transportation performance or budget exceeds standard operating procedure.
- Develop optimal transportation routes to ensure timely delivery of goods while minimizing costs and maximizing efficiency.
- Serve as a liaison between various departments within the company, as well as external stakeholders such as carriers, manufacturers, 3pls, and customers; provide timely updates on transportation status, resolving issues as they arise.
Your experience:
- Proven experience in transportation coordination in a logistics or supply chain environment is strongly preferred
- Understanding of transportation regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices preferred
- Logistics, ERP Software, appointment scheduling software and EDI experience are an extreme plus
- Freight broker experience is a plus
- 3PL and Warehousing experience a plus
