---JOB OVERVIEW---
AISG is seeking to hire a new Elementary School Instructional Coach. The Elementary School Instructional Coach in collaboration with the Elementary School Principal and the Elementary PYP Coordinators, is responsible for collaborating with teachers to create a culture of inquiry that encourages reflective teaching and learning practices. The coaching role includes modeling, co-planning, providing feedback, facilitating dialogue and discussion, and offering a variety of professional development opportunities aligned with schoolwide and divisional goals. This position requires an educator who is dynamic and values professional growth and reflection.
The Elementary School Instructional Coach will report to and be supervised by the Elementary School Principal.
The candidate must embrace the ethos of distributed leadership and demonstrate a leadership style that actively engages faculty in problem solving and collaboration for school improvement. The Elementary School Instructional Coach is an instructional leader who works collaboratively with the faculty to focus on student learning. The Instructional Coach works closely with teachers to analyze student data and make informed decisions about classroom practices. They provide support through coaching cycles to help teachers implement effective pedagogy that is aligned with the school's curriculum. Moreover, the Instructional Coach has a deep understanding of both content and pedagogy, which enables them to provide targeted coaching to teachers and build their capacity.
--- RESPONSIBILITIES ---
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL COACH
· Model best practices in teaching pedagogy for Early Years and Elementary Grades
· Work primarily with teachers as an instructional coach, targeting professional growth in evidence based pedagogical practices.
· Engage in coaching cycles with teachers specific to their identified professional goals as well as divisional goals.
· Support faculty in developing and implementing high quality instruction, with the primary goal of attaining higher levels of student engagement, agency, and achievement.
· Work closely with faculty to ensure curricular goals are met. This includes analyzing student data, developing differentiated instructional models, and providing coaching support and cycles including co-planning, co-teaching, modeling lessons, and providing feedback.
· Serve as a resource for leveraging researched based practices that have high impact on student learning and achievement.
· Critically review and evaluate proposed learning resources and materials, including emerging research related to the pedagogical shifts in literacy and mathematics
· Keep abreast of research and current best practices to support the learning experiences for students and the professional practices of teachers
· Collaborate with Elementary Principals and PYP Coordinators in the development of goals and curricular implementation initiatives.
· Lead professional development workshops within the Elementary School division
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop, facilitate and implement a differentiated teacher professional development (PD) program in collaboration with Principals and PYP Coordinators;
· Support the development, facilitation, and implementation of in-house PD events, conferences and workshops for teachers, and administrators;
· Support faculty in identifying, applying for and implementing learning from PD opportunities including presenting at conferences and publishing research;
· Provide PLC support including PD for PLC Leaders for data analysis, assessment literacy and curricular design and documentation;

---EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS---
· Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Education preferred;
· Proven record of success in the role of Elementary Instructional Coach;
· Skilled user of school technology systems like Veracross, Microsoft Office 365, and strong command of social media platforms;
· Experience in an international school setting preferred;
· Experience leading major school initiatives from conception to completion;
· At least 5 years of successful teaching experience at the elementary school level.

FACILITIES
(Ersha: Early Years, Lower Elementary):
The Ersha Island campus is located in the heart of bustling Guangzhou City and is home to Early Years (Pre-K and K) and Lower Elementary students (Grades 1-3). All classrooms are well-equipped with cutting-edge TVs with touch screens, flexible furniture, class libraries, 1:1 iPads (starting in Grade 1), and are well-lit with natural sunlight. Additional facilities include an air-conditioned multi-purpose room, a nurse's office, a maker-space area, and a central library. For sports, play time and activities, there is a dedicated playground for Early Years and for Lower Elementary students, there are additional playground structures and an outdoor basketball court. For all students, there is an air-conditioned gymnasium that houses a full-size basketball court.
(Science Park: Upper Elementary and Secondary):
The Science Park campus is located in the heart of Guangzhou’s technology center, Science City, in Huangpu District, where Upper Elementary students (Grades 4 and 5) and Secondary students (Grades 6-12) attend. The Science Park campus finished its complete renovation in August 2023 and has state-of-the art, well-equipped facilities with an open-concept design. The campus also features a Performing Arts Center with at theater, black box, music classrooms, and practice rooms; an Athletic Center with a natural grass field, an indoor 25-meter swimming pool, two gymnasiums with three full-sized courts, a fitness room, a dance studio, two external climbing walls, an indoor running track, and two rooftop spaces; and additional amenities that include innovation labs and design centers, a cafeteria and cafe area, a nurse's office, a creative multimedia space, and a central library.
TECHNOLOGY
All students are provided an iPad and are in a 1:1 iPad learning environment. Teachers incorporate the ISTE Standards into their curriculum with the support of the technology coaches to enhance 21st century learning. Technology is integrated where appropriate, and the development of research and information literacy skills is expected. All classrooms are equipped with the appropriate technology for interactive instruction and each teacher is assigned a MacBook Pro.
