Security Engineer The security engineers role is to ensure the stability, integrity and security of the IT systems that support core organizational functions. The security engineer will own various security-related initiatives such as authentication / authorization systems, firewalls, encryption protocols, etc. He / she needs to be adept at monitoring and identifying security intrusions and collaborating with team members or outside vendors to remediate findings.- Monitor, identify and respond to security intrusions by conducting root cause analysis and implementing fixes
- Coordinate with team members and outside vendors to resolve incidents in a timely manner
- Enable and monitor access rights to various system endpoints and applications
- Interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure system-related products and services
- Configure web application firewall, layer 3/4 firewalls, IDS, DDoS prevention, etc.
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems from a security standpoint
- Perform compliance assessments of security controls and document any gaps
- Assist with coordinating the remediation of control deficiencies resulting from security risk assessments
- Document risks introduced by a new or existing project or product
- Understanding of information security control frameworks
- Experience in multiple security areas such as firewall policy implementation, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), intrusion detection / prevention, threat and vulnerability assessment, event management (SIEM), forensics and security incident response.
- Familiarity with selecting and configuring tools to monitor, detect and respond to IT security vulnerabilities
- Prior experience in monitoring security systems and reviewing logs for vulnerabilities
- Experience with modern security concepts such as next generation firewalls, Advanced Persistent Threats (APT), phishing and social engineering, network access controllers (NAC), gateway anti-malware, and enhanced authentication.
- Strong analytical, data gathering and problem solving skills with respect to analyzing security attacks
- Possess relevant security engineer certifications such as ISSEP and CISM
- Familiarity with information security best practices and related laws
